You have a weird fixation on player age. We are talking about a non rotation guy to give regular season minutes
JR Smith, Iggy, Thabo, Korver on min deals Westbrook, Rivers, Clemons Harden, Green, Smith, Korver House, Iggy, Thabo PJ tucker, Bennett Capela, Chandler
The regular season matters too. If they are getting regular season minutes, that's a rotation player. I think what you're inferring is that they won't play in the playoffs. Which I don't understand. If a vet is getting minutes during the season and is not a negative, why wouldn't they play more in the playoffs? JR Smith 1-2 years ago in Cleveland gave them 8.3 points on 7 shots, sub 70% from FT line, good 3pt shooting, nothing else worth mentioning. He was 31 then and 33 now. What's likely to happen? To be honest even signing Chandler was barfy. Who's going to shoot at the 5 and who's going to outrun their man on the break and who's going to strengthen the team defense? JR Smith is pointless. We have Gerald Green if what we want is streaky 3pt shooting and high effort but ultimately disappointing defense. Not worth a roster spot to get someone who is 5% better than Green at defense.
There are mediocre old players, mediocre middle aged players and mediocre young players. Doesn't explain the obsession with mediocre ultra old players. We're constantly talking about the oldest players in the NBA, it's weird AF.
That makes so much more sense. I'd rather take a chance Stephenson tops his 37% from 3 (on 2.9 attempts last season) than hope a human doesn't age in his mid 30's. Lance Stephenson is 28 years old. No spring chicken, but god damn at least he's not mid 30's and can still RUN.
Because older players are the only ones who want to sign for the minimum on teams who won’t have them in the regular rotation
No, getting minutes in the regular season don’t make you part of the rotation. We are talking about him as a guy who plays sporadically when someone has a day off, is out for injury, foul trouble, back to backs, etc. Do you know what non rotation players are?
But we have room in our rotation. Right now these guys are competing for minutes: Chandler (36 yrs old), Hartenstein (unproven) Clark (unproven) House/Green (were useless in playoffs) In addition, we could use a 5 that can shoot, a bigger 4, and another PG. The oldest players in the NBA are easier to acquire of course. There's a reason for that.
You're being a pretentious dick btw, but I'll let you have your shitty day. Everyone knows what non-rotation players are.
1) I’d love to get a better 5 man and agree relying on chandler as your backup is dumb 2) agree we need a bigger 4, good luck 3) we’ve been turned down by multiple guys who went elsewhere because they saw better path to playing time 4) we have 3 rotational guys who can play pg in Westbrook, harden and rivers plus Gordon and maybe Clemons. Good luck convincing a young guy to sign here for the minimum when he’ll never play
I wasn't trying to be a dick about it I was genuinely asking. You said a player who plays in the regular season is by definition part of the rotation so i asked you whether you understood non-rotation players.
