Agree. IMO, pitchers should only wear 20-99. Single digit numbers on a pitcher look SO weird. So do 10-19, IMO, but not as bad.
Fine... give me Wheeler now. Then trade Correa plus some prospects in the offseason for Syndergaard and Lugo.
Wheeler totally fits the Astros mold. Would love him on the team, even if he's just a rental. WE NEED STARTERS!!!!!
Whats the rumor mill on Sonny Gray? The dude has been spinning it these last few weeks. Hes gotta be cheap, anybody hear anything?
I haven’t seen anything suggesting he’s available. He signed an extension with the Reds and their pitching coach was his college coach. They expect to contend soon. With all that in mind I think it would take a massive overpay to get him.
Didnt know he signed an extension. Thanks. Whatever his coach is doing, hes doing it right. Hes looking like Oakland Sonny Gray again.
I’m not seeing this from what I would call credible sources, but I’m seeing little leaks all over the place about Correa possibly being dealt. Normally I wouldn’t bring it here without seeing and posting a solid baseball source, but I ask this... Would anyone be comfortable trading CC if it brought back a pretty nice haul? Maybe top end starter and reliever with club control? I’d want more in a trade, but just spitballing. Does anyone think the Astros would do a deal this year? @Nook ? I pretty much think it’s a forgone conclusion that CC is gone when he hits the market. I just don’t see how we can afford him. The team is better when he’s in the lineup no doubt. I think we have a better shot to win another WS with him in the lineup, but wouldn’t be opposed to dealing him either. I’m not in a rush to deal him, I just want to know where people stand on the issue.
I don't mind trading CC but who can fill in production at 3B (unless Yuli moves to 3B) or who fills in at 1B (if Yuli moves to 3B) We really need some pitching right now.
IF Correa is traded, this offseason is the year to do it. He will still have 2 years of team control left. Also, you hope he can come back and have a strong second half. Right now you would be selling with his value down some.
I said they aren’t credible, just little twitter leaks, from people acting like they are in the know. That’s why I brought up the hypothetical and where people stand on the topic.
In my world, teach Tucker 1B this offseason. Tall, LHH, fast and athletic guy. Reminds me of Matt Olson and Jake Bauers. His skills IMO translate to a great 1B, only question to me is will he want to learn and put the effort into it. In my dream scenario, maybe something like: Springer RF Altuve 2B Brantley LF Bregman SS Alvarez DH Gurriel 3B Tucker 1B Marisnick CF Catcher Bench: Straw/Diaz/Stubbs/Rojas
Wouldn't this be better Springer CF Altuve 2B Bregman 3B Brantley LF Alvarez DH Correa SS Gurriel 1B Tucker RF Catcher
I’m on board with trading Correa, as long as the return is worth it. I can’t imagine any situation where that happens before the offseason. But if a team offered a return similar to what the White Sox got for Sale, I’d be ok with it.
I’m against trading Correa during the season if it makes us worse. We’d need at least a decent SS or 3B in return. Diaz, Gurriel, Straw are not going to be able to pick up the slack from Correa. I’d accept it if we traded him in the offseason with a decent return, but we don’t know if Cole will be back next year. Gotta target this year’s World Series.
