I lived in St. Louis for the past three years, jumped ship this summer to Seattle and have never been happier. I made a lot of great friends there, but you could tell St. Louis was headed the wrong way. Each year non-black minorities were leaving, the food was getting worse, urban decay surely spreading, and the suburban whites all the more emboldened in their conviction that their way of life was the true way and that they had to act out against outsiders in order to preserve it. That state will only get redder and redder in the coming years. Kansas City on the other hand is on the up and up. My cousin lives there; he and his wife are in the classical music business as performers, and the arts scene is just booming. Young people are moving in from around the Midwest, and there is a greater electricity in the air when it comes to the food scene and culture in general. I realize that 50-60% of KC is in Missouri proper, but I just wanted to throw my two cents in. I would much rather live in KC than adjacent Midwest cities. Then again, for anyone out there considering moving for your career...the Midwest is not a good place to live. Just avoid it if possible.

Look at liberal policy in action... we should all copy their model for rampant homelessness, NIMBY ruled communities that allows for no new housing, wonderful affordable homes that are in the comfortable $1-million-plus price range because of scarcity, and the STD epidemics that frequently break out. I'm looking at the data and it shows that California has the 5th largest gdp on the planet just above the nation of the United Kingdom and also has the 6th highest gdp growth rate out of all 50 states in 2019.
