OP is right that a bad owner can destroy a franchise. I'm not convinced that TIlman is a bad owner. There are signs and portents that concern me, but the context is important. It's two offseasons of a team that was asset poor in win-now mode desperately trying to find a piece to win a title.
It sounds like you don’t know a lot about championship windows. Chenj to harden: “why can’t your prime be longer!!” Celebrate your cheapman fandom by eating at Landry’s everyday
Crane was definitely getting ripped on here (probably myself included) He's never gonna spend! He's never gonna do this! Not gonna do that! But the Astros were tearing it down & rebuilding. Rockets are supposedly in win-now mode. "Opportunity is not a lengthy visitor." but then Crane changed the uniforms, brought back the H star and blue/orange, started building it back up, started winning, won a World Series and now he's the best/most loved owner in town! Outside of Chris Paul(prearranged deal), Clint Capela & the recent Danuel House deal, everything has been minimum deals & Tilman has cut costs since day one. (An accident, a fluke LOL) Remember, Rockets are in win now mode! Championship mode! Whatever it takes mode! Win at all costs mode! Favorites in the West mode! Going to win multiple championships with Harden mode! Spoiler You lowball your coach & offer an incentive-based contract (for a coach you & Morey say you "love" & "we want him here, will be here for years") Anderson for Knight, Knight for expiring Shumpert Don't use the MLE Let Mbah a Moute walk Let Ariza walk (of course the same people who say $15M was too expensive say bring on Iguodala & his $17M AND trade a first. "Who cares what he's making?! It's just a year!") Play hard ball with House, let him linger in the D-League for 2 months, only to later give him a deal you could have given him at the time. "Fireworks!" "Pick of the free agents." "Chasing this one star(Butler) and if not, at worst, add a top tier MLE player!" --> Hasn't signed an outside free agent. Look up what happens to elite athletes in their 30's and when another year passes. Along with no new players. Unless you determine that youth with Hardenstein and House are going to play minutes in the playoffs to get you a championship.
The thread police are the most useless sub-sect of people on this board. Was it worth your time to post this?
Window is not slowly closing....it has already closed as many other West teams have much better talent now. Minus a shocking deal, other than signing Shumpert, we are no longer a contender for the title.
Of course they have the right, but it doesn't make their whining any less inane or inconsequential. I'd tell Knicks fans to stop following the team if they can't stomach the owner and I'll say the same thing to you or any other Rockets fan. DEAL WITH IT OR GTFO.
Deal with or gtfo? Yea keep your feelings to yourself nobody cares. Almost all of us were fans before Fertitta bought the team and will still be after he leaves. You’re nobody to be mouthing off To someone to follow a new team.
LOL "You will root for mediocrity & you will like it!! I'm a true fan because I support every awful decision from the ownership & management & never question their motives,non-believers like you are not real fans!"
“Knicks fans should be content” That dude is a ****ing joke. Even Clutch called the FO our, maybe @kubli9 should call him out too then
Here is a study that you won't read for you. https://www.nature.com/articles/253264a0 Go ahead and let me know if you can find some studies where it shows PJ Tucker and Chris Paul are supposed get faster, more agile, and less injury prone now that they will be a year older. And that Harden doesn't have to score the 2nd most points per game in the last 50 years to get them in the playoffs and run out of steam during them. How is that conjecture for you ya flippant kid?
