This could work out good for them, but it also has the potential to do further damage to their championship aspirations.
Is Cousins dumb? He's still seeking a big contract but going places where he won't be the focal point. Miami made a ton more sense for him, he'd get to start, play under one of the best coaches, and if he was going to rejuvenate his career it would have been at a place like that. If he wants that big contract he has to prove that he can still be the man and won't be able to do that on the Lakers. As for the Lakers, this also seems like a dumb move, like they just wanted the guy because they could have him. I don't think he can rejuvenate his career, I think he's done for and more of a negative at this point than a positive...but if he were going to he should go to a team where he can be the focal point of a team, not just another player added for depth.
DO SOMETHING MOREY Rockets are the only contending team in the west that hasn't tried to get better this offseason.

Or maybe after the injuries he realizes he can't / doesn't want to be a focal point and isn't likely to get a big contract. Maybe he decided he just wants to try to win a ring. Or he likes living in California. Don't assume players are dumb when they just don't do what you would do.
