https://www.phillytrib.com/news/loc...cle_38e4d99d-fe82-5b2c-949e-010d42d52f3b.html Damn he was one of my favorite Rockets back in the mid 80's. Bill Fitch used to say Lew was the best player in the league for 20 mins a game.
Damn! Sweet Lew! Black Magic! Those 1986 Rockets and what could've been...he was one of the most elite Rockets in the open court.
Dammit, way too young. He was hell on wheels during our Finals run in '86, when we eliminated the defending champion Showtime Lakers under Pat Riley. According to Fran Blindbury, we were going to lose that series. He wrote that before it was even played. Players like Sweet Lew simply wouldn't let that happen. It took one of the best teams in NBA history to knock us out, that year's Boston Celtics.

Rest in Peace Lewis Lloyd stole the spotlight during Ralph Sampson's debut as a Rocket. Great memories watching Lewis Lloyd as a Houston Rocket
That's rough. He was one of my favorite Rockets. That era was one of the great what could have been teams ever and Lew was a big part of that. RIP.
Wow, shocking news...that was a great championship caliber team until drug use tore it apart. Rest in Peace Sweet Lou.
I listened to the games on the radio back then. That highlight package up there ^ was insane. Looked like clyde.
Loved Lew LLoyd back in the day. I have to say though, he and Wiggins getting suspended for drugs set the franchise back during what could have been a championship run. RIP Sweet Lew.
Lewis went for 30 and 15 and 26 and 10 as a 6'6 power forward in his 2 college seasons. He was a 2nd round pick for the Warriors and the Rockets made a deal for him for basically nothing and the Warrious were trying to make him a small forward but soon as he came to the Rockets Bill Fitch made him a 2 guard and he was a starter from then until the suspension.
Really sucks. I loved watching LL play, he was so smooth in the open court. What he and that team could have been. RIP
About the time I started watching basketball (the Rockets) in the mid 80s. Can probably still name most if not all of them. Sweet Lou, Dream, Sampson, Peterson, Wiggins, Harris, Leavell, Reid, Waiters, Ehlo. Could have been a dynasty, but drugs and career ending injuries left Akeem on an island.
