I don't think the warriors ever REALLY wanted KD back. All this lip service, lol

The warriors weren't really trying to go hard after KD, and I believe they are glad that he "choose" to go to the nets.

And while it ain't popular, the knicks will be glad that they didn't get kd. Durant's prime years are over, and the warriors got what they wanted out of him and let him go.

I could be wrong, but I just don't think a 32 year old kd, coming back after an Achilles injury at max dollars is really what the warriors wanted to do.

Supposedly curry was on a plane to go meet him and try to convince him to stay when the news broke that he was signing with Brooklyn. I don’t why curry wouldn’t want him to stay he was getting rings while taking all the credit and getting none of heat.

If it was JUST curry and not the entire organization (for a guy THAT important) that tells you all you need to know. They didn't want him back, it's all lip service.

They offered him a max contract . You've been with the guy for 3 years. Everything that needed to be said probably has been said.

Also a less athletic KD would be a Dirk type player. Even if the Warriors didn't plan on keeping him. Signing him to a 5 year contract would keep them in control to trade him for assets.

Let me ask you, how many times have you been wrong on this forum? Like 1000 times? Add this to them so that’s 1001 times. Also KD is 30 years not 32, and he doesn’t rely on athleticism he’s a lethal shooter so it’s about rhythm. He might not be the old KD but hee will be worth the max and more.

Agreed that they didn't want him back, disagree strongly that he won't be a good player anymore.

If they didnt want him back they wouldnt offer a 5 year max deal lol.

Tillman giving MDA a conditional contract or Morey giving Dwight a lowball deal, that's the kind of offers that are halfhearted and tells you they dont want you anymore.

They still have draymond, klay (in March), and curry, the base of the team that took them to a record season and ring before Durant, so I think only time will tell.

It doesn't matter what you think the man's muscle memory and form isn't dependent on athletic ability. He recovers and picks up where he left off.

He's 30 and like 280 days. He'll be 31 to start the season, BUT he won't play next season. He'll be 32 next time he plays a meaningful game. So the man had a point. Thirty two it is.

Agreed. He is still going to come back and be a 7 footer with an elite stroke and the ability to create space without elite explosiveness. If there is ever a player that can come back from Achilles and still work their way to top 10 it's Durant (based on what makes Durant special).

    I got your back @what

Rudy Gay post-Achilles injury > KD post-Achilles injury

Durant will now have to get on Rudy's level.

Recovering from one of the most serious injuries in professional sports. I think KD will still be a formidable player, but if he weren't as tall and athletic. In a smaller frame athlete, or an all pro in another sport, it would be a wrap. Especially at 30/32.

Plenty of media heads are thinking the quick announcement of # retirement, how they dealt with injury and trying to convince him to stay does not look good. They also seem to question Kerr a bit. It’s just not as widespread as it should be. Warriors should be blasted.

I sympathize with his condition but people should start letting this go.

He's earned tons of money and he is 2x FMVP and MVP. He should find comfort in that.

If they knew Raptors were going to win anyways, they wouldn't have played him......lelz.

Unfortunately muscle memory won't help an Achilles injury -- for that he would need tendon memory which doesn't exist for a first time rupture.
