    I mean technically there could be fireworks. Just never actually lit them.

    He never said fireworks were actually going to go off. He fooled us all with his wordplay ;)

    The only fireworks were made on the toilet out his back passage.

    On a more 'serious' note, fireworks seem like an appropriate analogy. Lots of bright light and noise that flames out quickly with nothing to show at the end of it all.
