I’ll take Gordon Hayward for him straight up with a pick from Boston. Hayward gonna have a bounce back year. Most time coming back from bad injury takes about a year gain confidence back. He’s scared to hit the glass. Once he gains confidence he’s gonna be his old self
Now that Rivers is back, we need to do it even more. Need to beef up that front court. That trade of Ego and Capela for Hayward is utter crap.
I would trade him to the Celtics for Marcus Smart and newly drafted Grant Williams out of Tennessee. Williams is the same mold as PJ Tucker and Draymond Green, undersized 4 that is tough and can do a lot of things. PJ could teach him how to be a dawg. Marcus Smart gives us a legit PG backup. I would then trade Eric Gordon for a draft pick to get more cap flexibility Sign Javale MaGee or Kyle O'Quinn
GSW has hard capped themselves so they are going to have to let Looney go. If the Rockets signed Looney to be their starting C, that would free them up to trade Capela for assets (players and draft pick). Capela is their best trade asset. But at the same time, you can't move him without a replacement. So yeah, it *depends* right now.
The math works against these deals in the offseason. In our current situation we couldn't acquire Love or Beal without pairing Gordon and Capela in a deal. I'd probably do that for Beal, would NOT do it for Love.
Only for the right deal. Not even sure I like it for Kevin love. Maybe Beal? As of now, I’d focus on either extending or trading EG. Ride with Clint for now and if something enticing comes along later on in the season we can explore. With all the deals gone down thus far, Clint’s contract is looking more and more valuable by the hour.
"The Rockets were said to have meetings set up with big men JaVale McGee and Kevon Looney, but they likely were options to replace Capela. Since it looks like Capela will stick around, they may no longer be on the Rockets' board."
You could sign Looney to a good deal and go into season with both him and Capela, with the idea that mid-season Rockets could trade Capela + Shump (assuming he signs that 1 year bumped up salary) and picks to get that last player to put them over the top. Or who knows, maybe having two real centers turns out to be a good thing and Houston opts to make the same trade except with gordon instead of Capela. It'd be nice to have redundancy at all spots for this reason.
If Harden can make Asik look like a 16mil/year player, he can make any big into a star as long as he's willing to accept that role.
Only for the right trade. Capela and pick for JBrown & RWilliams. Better yet, 3 team trade: HOU: Aaron Gordon, Jaylen Brown, Robert Williams ORL: Marcus Smart, Eric Gordon BOS: Clint Capela, DJ Augustin, Rockets 1st, ORL 2nd
No. He’s gotta stay if we are truly “running it back”, and this is our one last shot with the Harden/CP3 pairing. He’s also the one person on the roster that has some potential to take a big step forward and really improve the roster from within. Even though it’s likely he is who he is. There’s just only so few avenues for this team to truly improve. Capela is probably the most achievable solution to talent improvement in all honesty. Just look past one terrible post season performance and it’s clear he’s gotta stay now.
agree hayward will bounce back. PG had the best year of his career last year after previously having a similar injury. id love to have him but we would have zero big men.
i think hayward would be good for us, but not at the price theyre asking.. we're still taking on a ton of risk if we got him as opposed to keeping capela
