I mean I don't blame him, closer to home, and he's still getting paid millions to play a kid's game so #Blessed. I am curious about the contract numbers though as in how much Barcelona can pay a player.
Mirotic camp is denying it.......lelz, popcorn.... https://www.marca.com/baloncesto/nba/2019/06/29/5d17be9446163f3c938b45f2.html
... And those 40-50 million over 3-4 years is really around 20-25 million after taxes... In Europe he'll probably get around 3M euros a season (roughly equivalent to 7M USD annual NBA salary?)
I am guessing that the $ amount of the Barcelona offer is comparable to the NBA contract he would get.
Maybe he just said **** America and wantsto be a superstar over there and bang Barcelona broads again
NVM, i guess you're doubling for tax. But, Mirotic was going to get way more than 7M per year here. So, he's definitely taking a pay cut.
Compared to Barcelona, 99,9% of the US cities are your Toyota Corolla. Aside from money, it's an absolutely understandable move.
That's equivalent to a 6 year / $160M contract in the NBA (because of the taxes). Hard to believe, but it would explain it perfectly.
No idea what's going on, its Barcelona football level of money. I think that they decided to go big this year after losing to Real in the finals, especially considering that they are supposed to move to a new arena this season.
He had serious confidence issues and difficulties with expectations in the NBA. From a quality of life standpoint it makes sense because of mental health issues. He will be the biggest star in Madrid and his role and game will be more comfortable in the Euro League. Some guys are not made for the NBA.
I don't blame him for wanting to go play in Spain. It's a great city to go live in. I'd make a similar move if my family was overseas.
