So basically this whole media **** show is because we are actually not close at all and desperately trying to convince Butler they have deals lined up to get him and willing to do whatever it takes.

Well, the teams can't really officially state whom they are after, that is tampering before FA officially starts.

Last time checked, still one day left?!

So the Progress is 'officially' a bunch of rumors....until it becomes true once FA officially starts....Again.

So the ordinary 'fair weather' fan would only believe facts.

Nook, if those whispers are correct, THAT would be the reason Butler would look elsewhere. Because things are going to hit the fan if his teammates aren't dedicated.

Harden yesterday in an interview said “they need to run it back and get better”. He knows it’s looking unlikely for jimmy. I think we should drop it all together and fetch Danny Green/Cousins while others are looking for the big fish

Moving Capela means we don’t need CP3.

I really hope the deal is with Boston. They just drafted some guards and forwards so they may need to clear up some roster space for those playing behind Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown, and Jayson Tatum. Plus Gordon Hayward will eat backup SG and SF minutes unless traded (not to HOU please) or for some reason he starts moving Tatum to starting PF. And Boston needs a starting Center. Ripe for the picking.

HOU out: Clint Capela, future 2nd
BOS out: Marcus Smart, Robert Williams, 2020 1st

Do it. Take back the salary. Either player could be used in a future trade if they don't pan out. The BOS 1st can be added with Eric Gordon in a potential Butler trade.

There are centers in free agency that can fit the Rockets offense of pick and roll to alley oop but will they come to HOU? Maybe but the Rockets NEED that vertical threat on offense AND defense. Getting Robert Williams is a good piece to develop on a rookie contract as a backup which IMO has value for a championship level team that NEEDS internal development to contend for multiple years.

Marcus Smart would be the new Patrick Beverley in his original role as a Rocket. Defensive menace OFF THE BENCH! Can shoot the 3 okay...but should get better with more wide open looks. Perfect Third Guard for Rockets.

Sign a DJ or McGee with the MLE. Use the BAE or Vet Min on Jeff Green.

Not sure about the details for Jimmy Butler if it's a sign-and-trade but I'd do the Capela trade regardless if we get Jimmy G Buckets or not. Capela is an okay center against traditional bigs. But he is no good against small ball centers or big centers that can shoot the 3. Rockets need to focus on defensive improvements. Defense wins championships.

    C: (DJ/McGee), Williams, Hartenstein
    PF: J Green, Tucker
    SF: (Butler/Gordon), Clark
    SG: Harden, Smart, G Green
    PG: Paul, Ponds

Nah. I mean it as either/or. So Eric Gordon and BOS 2020 1stRP or Jimmy Butler...hopefully trade is possible without including PJ Tucker's salary.

Might be the end of a Boston deal

Not that I'm a fan of the proposed deal by Doc, but is Hayward permanently damaged goods?? I know he had a rough year last year, but is there really no shot at him getting back to the player he was in Utah?? Maybe a change of scenery could help him get his confidence back?
