It happens to the best of us. I just knew it had been 125% for as long as I could remember, but I don’t keep up with the NBA’s salary cap changes like @BimaThug does.

I "try to" keep up with it all …. guess I'm getting senile in my old age cause I could have sworn it was 120%+100k , I guess that was prior to 2017 … I went back and re-read the CBA FAQ just to confirm it and Bima posted his correction seconds before I did. Your position is that if Butler doesn't opt in we just go through with a Clint to the Celtics deal for Smart or Brown?

TBH, If Smart or Brown are up for grabs for Clint, I'd rather have one of them over Butler on a max.

I don't think Butler fits as well as Capela.

Miami can’t offer Butler a maximum contract. So if the Sixers aren’t willing to play ball on a S&T with the Rockets, what makes you think they would participate with the Heat?

Capela needs to keep improving, but he fits wonderfully. Butler doesn't fit at all, unless we're committed to reducing Harden's fourth quarter touches to zero and giving up on team defense during the first three quarters of the game.
Jimmy Butler, Carmelo Anthony, Ty Lawson - they're all the same mistake with the same arrogant approach to losing basketball games while sneering at their non-star teammates for not doing enough. We need team play. And we need to get behind players who give their all to win basketball games with their hustle and with their teammates instead of with their mouths.

What 's the maximum amount of time between Morey signing someone to a big contract and Morey trying to trade that someone?

Don't be fooled Miami is leverage to Philadelphia that he will walk ...so they better get something for him.

Capela for being in the league has not improve on his conditioning. He gets tired easily and when he does he loses focus on both ends of the court, This I believe is why in the fourth he becomes a liability. I hope the Rockets can get something done and we will soon find out what that is by next week. Hoping for the best like always for the team.

Oh really? Does this sound like a guy who thinks nothing is happening or progressing?

Come on now. We can't pick and choose what suits us. Either:

    1) The org is making moves to make this happen, and the players might be affected; or,
    2) This was nothing but smoke and mirrors and the players should be laughing it off.

You can't whine both ways with: it was all in Morey's head and the players should be pissed, which is exaaaaaaaaactly where the board's haters are visualizing this will go.

My position is if Butler doesn't opt in we need to look at other deals clearing out Capela and collecting assets. What's trade(s) yield the biggest asset pile and future player acquisition flexibility.

Personally I'd think feeding Capela to a team like Sac for a pick or two would be great. Then turn that deal into a 3 easy with OKC taking back Robertson and Grant and another future pick. Then trade Nene for PPat.

Then after netting 2 or 3 picks by getting okc out of the tax now take those expiring contracts to Miami and double up. Combine grant Robertson ppat and ego deyonte Frazier to Miami for Winslow Whiteside dion then add shump in a snt for waiters and herro/okpala.

Then take Whiteside and trade him into a lottery teams cap space with a couple picks.....or go to Cleveland and offer Whiteside and 3-4 picks for Love.

So you wind up adding Winslow and love and a couple youngsters. Ssns you've got JJ and Waiters to peddle away in a year as expirings with remaining picks plus other pick now available since a year has passed.

There's countless iterations I'd whst i just described. STACK TRANSACTIONS. Get two teams out of the tax and pick up assets since we are seeking to pay the tax. Then peddle away a huge expiring contract with a couple picks for a huge tpe and trade flexibility going forward.

Or use it plus a bunch of picks to get another great player.

this is gonna blow up in our face if Butler ends up not coming here. PJ, Capela and EG are all gonna hold a grudge against Morey and this team and play like **** next year.

I hope CF doesn't over-react when we start the season 9-16 but we are we kidding?
