It is really petty, but if your star player has an ego that needs to be stroked, you gotta get out the loufa.

    Non Issue.
BUT, the very first argument of the tweet is irrelevant! How can you win this case?

sure, it's up for debate. but harden's volume was an order of magnitude above giannis'. wasn't his combination of points and assists per possession unprecendented? this wasn't just a slight edge. no one has ever scored as much as harden with a TS% as high as harden's. no one. so yes giannis had a very good offensive season (he is also very efficient), but it just wasn't on harden's level offensively.

the sixers did that. giannis got smoked 4 games straight to lose his series. and blew a huge 4th quarter lead in game 6 to boot.

i think it's the fact he won by a massive margin. just like westbrook did. somehow these supposedly incredibly divisive debates always end up as landslides for the non-harden player (reminds me of reggie bush vs vince young being this big debate and then bush somehow winning by one of the largest margins ever, but that ended with a nice hakeem/robinson moment).

you're foolishly focusing on totals and overall impact, but just look how much more even giannis' numbers are on offense and defense. that means he's a 2-way player. and don't you know, 2 > 1. ipso facto, mvp.

Fair enough - and lol my bad on the Philly/Milwaukee screw up.

And yes, I agree Giannis's season wasn't as good as Harden's offensively. And Harden's was far inferior to Giannis's defensively. Definitely a decision where reasonable people will have different opinions.

But to me that's the key word: reasonable. Half this board is acting like Harden was passed over for someone who had no place even being in the MVP debate.

If we shouldn't care about what the media think of us, then why do we care about the MVP award which is voted by the media?

I don’t see what the big deal is - literally anything Houston does will be viewed through the lens of how much they suck so why bother trying to stay on the good side of a whole world of people who are actively looking for any reason to support their preconceived narrative that Houston sucks.

If Houston’s twitter account just said ‘congrats Giannis’ - people would say even Harden’s own organization didn’t believe in him. The whole sports narrative era is out of control stupid. Don’t argue with stupid - they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Who gives a ****?!? Media and casual fans all hate us already. A tweet is not going to change anything.

Because MVP still means something to Harden and he is the only player where the goalposts move every time he is in contention for it.

    1. Year of Curry - Winning is all that matters
    2. Year of Westbrook - Worthless trip dub is all that matters
    3. Year of Harden - Many people wanted to give it to LBJ despite missing a quarter of the season.
    4. Year of Giannis - Go back to Westbrook argument

Personally, I don't give a **** about what the media thinks. I do recognize that the award means something to players however. I also see the hypocrisy in how that award is given which is annoying.

I like that our team supports our players. If the rest of the NBA and social media is up in arms about a f-ing tweet?
    Good.

If the Rockets organization doesn’t support the man who carried the team for the entire season, who will?

Media narrative is totally BS nowadays. If anything, this past two weeks only tells us Rockets doesn’t have a strong marketing/PR department.
