ESPN pushing him to the Clippers. SAS saying he has a better shot on the Clippers...what? Toronto is pretty stacked. Siakam is only going to get better and if Kyle Lowry went to the Clippers he'd be their best player lol. People are falling in love with an 8th seeded team just because they stole two games from the Warriors. If the Clippers make no significant move they may not even make the playoffs again.
It's so annoying how ESPN keeps trying to push Kawhi to LA. The fact that First Take is supposed to be a debate show, yet Max and SAS agree that Kawhi should go to the Clippers, shows how strongly ESPN's bias is. Max says Kawhi's legacy will be further elevated if he wins another chip with the Clips. Well, to do that, you have to go to through the ultra-competitive WC and even then, there's no guarantee that, when you reach the playoffs, you'll find success. They barely won against Philly and were down 2-0 to the Bucks before figuring out Giannis. And the all the injuries to the Warriors happened. Raptors got lucky in many areas. SAS says LA is his home and that's why he should sign with the Clips. Uh, CA hasn't been his "home" since his college days. This isn't a "kid from Akron" story like in LeBron's case. Kawhi wasn't drafted by a CA team and can complete a full-circle thing like LeBron.
Bucher: • While the consensus is that neither Durant nor Irving intend to return to their current teams, the picture is less clear among league executives about where Leonard will end up. While the odds-on favorites are the Clippers—fulfilling Leonard's supposed interest in playing where he grew up—one Eastern Conference vice president says the Raptors still have a "fighting chance" to re-sign him, while a Western Conference VP says the Lakers are operating as if "they think they have a strong shot" at adding Leonard after acquiring New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis to play alongside their incumbent star, LeBron James, in a deal that can't be officially consummated until next month. To offer Leonard a max salary, however, the Lakers would have to push back the timing of their proposed deal for Davis to late July—which multiple reports state will not happen—or move additional players to open salary-cap room, which would then require a number of veterans to take league-minimum salaries to fill out the Lakers roster. The Knicks, sources familiar with the team's thinking say, also believe they will get a chance to pitch Leonard on joining Durant in New York if Irving and the Nets strike a deal without Durant as part of it.
Also, they can repeat. What is to stop them from repeating? Bucks can't make many moves to get better. The 6ers will probably lose Tobias or Butler or maybe both. The Celtics will lose Kyrie and Horford...and with Durant getting hurt it basically did two things that favor the Raptors...Durant won't be going East to play in New York to form a superteam (at least not next season) and he won't be playing for the Warriors next season either...and neither will Klay. They have a super clear path right back to the finals to play....who?
