I can't imagine that anyone other than the Bengals thinks of us as a rival (since that's the only team we've ever beaten in a playoff game).

EDIT: I'm not counting the Raiders with their 3rd string QB.

They didn't renew his contract. They weren't planning on having him back.

The narrative about him being uncomfortable with Kraft's issues was manufactured after the fact.

Have Kraft meet Cal at local massage parlor in Houston for a handi-shake deal. Problem solved.

They don't need to pass block very well. Everything is set up by the short passing game which Brady has mastered. Its hard to sack the quarterback when he gets rid of the ball in 1.5 seconds. This opens up the running game and the occasional deep passes.

Yep, just like Peyton always made his OL seem much better as well.
But Brady or not, Scarnecchia is one of if not the premier OL coaches in the NFL.

That also relies heavily on having shifty receivers who can get open off the line. The Texans have one with great hands (Hopkins), great vertical speed (Fuller), but don't really have that short/intermediate route guy (or the hulking TE) that Brady will find routinely. Coutee showed promise in that area... I just don't think he can withstand a full season worth of physical pounding.

Bad O-lines can be coached up and/or game-plans like above can help mitigate. But the talent on the line last year was just abysmal... basically expansion-level Texans bad. They had to upgrade all aspects, including the coaching.

Doesnt matter if they aren't calling the right plays and having the receivers run short routes.

Every team has to play to their strengths. Forcing Hopkins and Fuller to try and do something they cannot do well wouldn't be all that smart.

Even Brady adapted the year he had Moss. When Gronk was at his best, they designed the routes around him.

LOL. So basically he'd be highly unlikely to fire BOB anytime in the near future.

That should be obvious. It still blows my mind that our local reporters are so bad that they pushed the idea that OBrien is on the hotseat now, that he got sent a message, etc. LOL

I'm starting to wonder if Gaine's firing had to do with Gaine trying to make the case *against* Bill O'Brien? BOB can fall back on his record (and does) but even a shallow dive would reveal some legitimate and concerning shortcomings. Maybe (hopefully) those will be addressed/fixed but more and more, as BOB builds a small, insulated army, I'm concerned he may never face consequences and may never leave.

I will remain hopeful that people like Easterby and Caserio will be to BOB's benefit and push him to be better, rather than merely being lazy enablers... But, uhm.........

Honestly think this was as simple as Easterby/BoB wanting to bring in their buddy and convincing Cal this was the right move. No problem with it whatsoever but the execution was just so laughably bad.

Cal of House McNair is now in charge of the inmates, the eldest born son of the previous Warden.

Primogeniture is what made America great, not BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA
