Am I the only one here worried about the potential age of our 2020 squad?

    Let's say the rumors end up becoming true and we add both Horford and Butler.

    Here is our rotation:

    Chris Paul : 34
    James Harden : 30
    Jimmy Butler : 30
    PJ Tucker : 34
    Al Horford : 33


    Is this what we want to surround Harden with for the next 3 years? Will this be competitive moving forward (and god forbid any of these guys get injured) competing with a much younger west? Denver, Portland, Sacramento, even the Lakers and the Spurs are all much younger squads. The only team with as much age as our own is the now injured Golden State Warriors.

    It's the best possible team to put on the floor for next season. Take advantage of GSW being weak.

    The goal was always to maximize the team in the short term. When CP comes off the books they will pivot and get younger.

    1) Potential is used in the thread title.

    Average age 34.6 in 2021 playoffs, salary 147 mil for 5 players.
    Add 5 drafted players and 4 two way players
    Team payroll 160 million, too high.

    You probably want to add Hakeem who was the only guy winning the ship in his 30s.

    Duncan and Jordan won their first ship before 30 (MJ closer to 30 than Duncan).

    Both got the inside track and experince to winning a championship. Championship pedigree.

    I think the Rockets window is alive but limited, they have to hope that other teams have major injuries, and them being relatively healthy in the Playoffs in order to win it all.

    And yes, I did consider GSW's situation.
