They’ve backed themselves into a corner with that Wall contract. They’re going to have to hope he has some sort of major turnaround once he [finally] returns.

That franchise is a complete disaster.

Arenas and Wall, and Juwan Howard’s atrocious contract, and trading Chris Webber for an over-the-hill Mitch Richmond. Seems like the Wizards always have some major albatross to deal with.

Shams said that the Pelicans would also try to trade for him.

Wasn't Wall the owner favourite? Now it's Beal, lol

Man I wish we could get Beal. I feem like we would have a better shot at him vs Butler. He is staying in Phili or LA bound

Wizards are apparently open to a 1-year extension, as well. If I was Beal, I'd take that offer.

In one year, you can see how Hachimura adjusts to the game AND how Wall's progression with rehab is. If both turn out well, I'd consider signing an extension next summer. If Beal is iffy about one or both situations, just cut bait and become an UFA next summer.

Also, there's a clear lack of notable FAs next summer, so more teams would be willing to throw money at Beal.

I doubt Washington makes the playoffs, so Beal can just dick around to get his stats up and build his case for max money. Not that he hasn't done so, already.

Probably a good idea. Wall was an upper tier force. But no impact. Beal is a third tier talent who is seen as a second tier. The math doesn't add up to keep that together. Try to hit in the draft. Washington could hold a star player if they ever get one, but literally, they never do.
