Houston Rockets & Al Horford have mutual interest??

I didn’t hear trade player “A” for “B and C”.

I know Paul and Gordon and Hayward names discussed.

Celtics are hard to trade with because Ainge historically has put a high value on his players. However perhaps after passing on making deals for Butler, George, Leonard and Davis; Ainge feels a need to win now. If you think about it, a Horford and something else for Capela and Gordon doesn’t really cost him much as Horford isn’t going to be around much longer.

 

Why do you think Horford is a mental midget?

Agreed about needing another rim protector. That was a big weakness last yr when Capela wasn't in the game. I hope they can get a PF that can play some C and is a shotblocker.

 

Would love to get Horford.

Incredibly smart, great defender, can stretch the floor.

Does everything well. Unquestionably makes us a better team.

Only question is how to get the numbers to work without giving up too much.

 

They have had interest in JaMychal Green in the past. He could possibly be available for the MLE and give the Rockets size at the 4... they could run Paul/Harden/Tucker/Green/Horford at times. The Rockets would still need someone to replace Gordon’s shooting and a long swing 3... but they would have their draft picks left to move and if they dealt Capela and Gordon, possibly a pick from the Celtics.

It’s all spectaculation at this point anyway... all I can say is they talked shortly after the season ended for the Rockets.

 

Because I have watched him play since his Hawk days and he sinks under pressure.

Maybe playing as a third fiddle with Harden and/or CP, that will not be an issue, but I just dont see him as a guy you can depend on in those really tough deciding games where things arent really going your way.

 

Horford is OLD

 

He has a reputation of not wanting the ball in crunchtime

 

Capela/Paul for Horford/Hayward makes a lot of sense. Send Nene too for cap relief.

Sounds like Boston trying to build traction on Capela deal. Since Horford makes $30 M.....CP3 must be included
for a mutual interest. Who else comes our way? And picks?

That's what i'd expect, there's no way Ainge himself considers a Horford for Capela swap fair at this point, and he would be motivated to make this trade cause he would swap a 33 years old guy with another one in line with his core (Tatum, Brown) and locked on a solid contract for 4 seasons. So, yeah, he would've to add something of course, my guess is definitley not Brown (at least unless the Rockets add future picks), but a mix of their 1st rounders (14th, 20th and 22nd), Robert Williams maybe.

 

@Deuce i remember you posted few days ago something about how much salary we can move/take back by moving the minimum/non guaranteed guys we have, but i just can't find the post, would appreciate if you could repost or link that.

A 33 year old injury prone player....what could go wrong?

 

They love Rockets.

• Old
• One more year of prime productivity (maybe)
• Smart
• Can shoot
• Not athletic
• Injury prone

Seems about the usual Rockets move. The reality of this team is that we will never have assets to trade for a good young player. This is one of those bold moves where you know that Capela has probably peaked to be the player he is going to be rest of his career and his inability to stretch the floor does hurt the offense even if we can dominate lesser teams because he does provide "vertical spacing" for James lob pass.

 

Let's be realistic. Morey has mostly failed at getting us a good PF throughout Hardens tenure. He loves small tough guys that are undervalued and can play the 4 in our system.

As much as his analytics tell him he needs to focus on getting:

• Shooters (3 pt and free throws)
• Forwards that can rebound (taller guys)

He usually fails to get us these things.

 

If 3years 60 million, no. Hard capped.

Starters average age is 34 in 2021.
