No need to panic until we see who else they add.

If it is someone like Kemba Walker then the fit will not be ideal.

Great deal for Lakers. Keeping Kuzma puts them in a position to do tend for a title. That was the player I wanted the Rockets to go after. A 6’10” 3 pt shooter that plays solid D and can run the floor. With AD and LeBron they can spread the floor for Kuzma. Wouldn’t be surprised to see another shooter like Reddick added.

Funny, for all the praise Morey gets on this board he hasn’t done enough to put the Rockets over the top. And quit with all the “it’s Tilman’s fault” type threads. He’s o my been there for a year, and this is Morey’s 12th year as the GM. Tilman didn’t handcuff the roster by signing CP3 to a ridiculous 4 year $160 deal. Tilman didn’t sign a scrub like Shumpert and give away a 1st round draft pick when there were plenty of other players to be had. Tilman didn’t sign Anderson to a long term contract that required giving up picks and players just to cover his mistake. When Morey brings a championship to H Town I’ll be the first one to praise him, but I doubt that day comes.

Par for the course with the three stooges -- Tilman, Daryl & Thaddeus (edit: Thaddeus, not Mike). Talk big, fail spectacularly. Talk talk talk talk talk, ALL TALK.

"We're gonna win multiple championships with James Harden."
"We're gonna do whatever it takes."
    "Luxury tax never came up."
    "Fireworks will be set off."
"We will have our pick of the free agents."
"We're obsessed with the Warriors. We want to play the Warriors."

Stop ****ing talking and just go do it.
Warriors didn't say we're gonna go win multiple championships, they just went out & did it.
Don't talk about the Warriors then curl up like a b**** (Clint) and cry about the refs. "We didn't win because of the refs last year!"
Don't say you're gonna green light to bust the budget and then not only do you not, you actually cut costs and you lie to the fans and say it was a fluke, an accident.
Don't ****ing talk about setting off fireworks & signing a terrific free agent (Leslie @pippendagimp) and having your pick of the free agents and you sign Michael Carter-Williams.
Don't say you want Mike as coach and love him and then low ball him on a contract & offer an incentive-based contract.
Stop ****ing talking and just go do it. Or don't, that's cool too but stop ****ing talking already.

I think they'll be pressured to make a deal.. for example like CC to Boston for JBrown + 1 first round pick...which may make the team slightly better but I doubt there will be any fireworks.

Good trade for both. If Kawhi stays in the East (please...), West will come down to Lakers v Rockets, maybe Warriors depending on FA + injuries. Lakers easily in a better position than us to improve further, so I’m just expecting they’ll be a strong 1 seed. Damn, 2020 was looking good for a couple days.

AD is far better than Melo, and the Lakers still could sign another star...

Unless they were some how able to add Kawhi (probably not realistic), their options are limited in regards to a move that would improve the team to championship level. Obviously adding another guard in Kemba is not the answer. Butler would improve the team, but probably not enough to talk titles. And the free agent list talent drops off to Tobias Harris after that. To me all possible moves are lateral or worse unless you could get Kawhi and beating Toronto or L.A. for his services seems unlikely

The bigger risk is not if the Lakers add someone like Kemba ..
but if it inspires someone like Kawhi to team up with Durant in the Clippers.

Kemba is a very short pg who relies on speed. His peak will be very short lived.

i'd be more concerned if they're able to swing a trade for beal. lebron is going to be running their offense anyways

You don't need to worry about that.
The Wizards are trying to get Masai and before a new GM is hired there will be no trade.

Unless they manage to hire someone at the level of Magic's skills, their new GM wont be so stupid.

True. Melo was a top 10 (maybe even 5) player in the league he was traded though. We’ve seen His career play out and he was exposed for the long term trash that he is. Lots of hindsight. Just saying that’s a lot to give up for someone you could just sign in a year. I know Lebrons timetable and all

At this point they have no asset for a big trade, the 4th pick wasn't enough to get Beal, Kuzma has probably less value than that pick, what makes him better for the Lakers is that he's super cheap (2M next season), cheaper than a signed 4th pick (which is going to cost around 5M) so, by keeping Kuzma instead of the pick to draft a player they have those 3M more in cap space, right for a max slot.

All the reports in the last 12 months, have been saying that Kawhi really doesn't want to play with Lebron.
It's not like Kawhi is someone who is desperate to get a ring before he retires, to swallow his feelings and put up with that.

Scratch one Butler off the wish list. It was tough enough as it was to get him with all the moving parts
and trying to convince him to take around $27M his 1st year of the deal.

No need to go after coach Thibs. Put a coaching staff together minus Thibs.

Rockets won’t have much to go after anyone unless they trade CP3 to someone like Bulls,Heat, Suns, etc.
    without taking back trash contracts.

If CP3 is not traded........would Capela or Gordon trade net anything of Cap Space? Would a Gordon trade allow
the Rockets enough to bring in Tobias Harris type?

Rockets have full bird rights on Shumpert, (can bring in with Rockets over luxury tax.....but do Rockets want him?)
Non bird rights on Austin Rivers,
Early bird rights on Gerald Green, (can bring in with Rockets over luxury tax)
Non bird rights on D House (can match Qualifying offer, only remaining MLE Rockets currently have....like $4M)
    Non bird rights on Faried.
    https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2019/05/2019-nba-offseason-salary-cap-digest-houston-rockets.html

As is, there is not much the Rockets can bring in......or retain.
