IT wanted the Celtics to "bring the Brinks truck" - he was asking for a max extension, like Curry or Harden. Celtics reportedly were offering 3/4 years at $100 million, and IT should have taken that extension in a heartbeat. Look at what "maximizing his earning potential" got him - veteran's minimum and bouncing team to team. Having the right and being "justified" got nothing to do with what I am saying. At the end of the day, he was too greedy and made some unwise decisions. IT sure knew his rights, but I bet he regrets it now.
Ok, so he REGRETS his decision. That's different than saying, "He deserved it." Deserving it implies that he was unethical, or deceptive in some way. He was just guilty of over-inflating himself, and letting his ego get in the way of making a good decision.
Oh no, I do mean he regrets AND deserves it. Deserving has nothing to do with ethics or deception in this case. It was his own conceit and misjudgement that landed him in this situation.
