I think you would probably want Late Raptor and Early Magic Mcgrady because that is when his D was all that.

It all depends if you can include Orlando Dwert, plain and simple but I guess the odds are not good.

Houston Dwight was underwhelming to say the least, true, he had one year of good play.

Your defense on the bench is great but could get really cold and not score.

With the legends around him, mobley who has a better shooting percentage, 3 pt percentage, avg pts, and can run the court is why I chose him. I love mad max, but his head case behavior was why I chose mobley. Max didn't do anything after houston.

The pool of players who had at least 3 seasons with the Rockets in which they played at least 50 games and averaged at least 30 mpg:

    Code:

    Rk Player From To Count
    1 Hakeem Olajuwon 1985 1999 14
    2 Calvin Murphy 1972 1980 8
    3 James Harden 2013 2019 7
    4 Rudy Tomjanovich 1972 1979 7
    5 Moses Malone 1977 1982 6
    6 Otis Thorpe 1989 1994 6
    7 Trevor Ariza 2010 2018 5
    8 Shane Battier 2007 2011 5
    9 Steve Francis 2000 2004 5
    10 Elvin Hayes 1969 1982 5
    11 Vernon Maxwell 1991 1995 5
    12 Yao Ming 2004 2009 5
    13 Cuttino Mobley 2000 2004 5
    14 Robert Reid 1980 1987 5
    15 Rodney McCray 1985 1988 4
    16 Mike Newlin 1973 1976 4
    17 Luis Scola 2009 2012 4
    18 Rafer Alston 2006 2008 3
    19 Patrick Beverley 2014 2017 3
    20 Clyde Drexler 1996 1998 3
    21 Sleepy Floyd 1988 1990 3
    22 Eric Gordon 2017 2019 3
    23 Stu Lantz 1970 1972 3
    24 John Lucas 1977 1986 3
    25 Tracy McGrady 2005 2008 3
    26 Ralph Sampson 1984 1986 3

From that list, I'll go with:

    C - Hakeem Olajuwon
    PF - Moses Malone
    SF - Clyde Drexler
    SG - James Harden
    PG - Calvin Murphy

It's cheating a bit with Olajuwon and Moses, but you can't really leave either off. I struggled choosing between Drexler and McGrady. Ultimately I gave the nod to Drexler because of his role in the second championship.

That's not necessarily the lineup I'd go with if I want to win a championship. It's more about celebrating the all-time greats of the franchise.

I can't believe it took this long for someone to put Thorpe on their squad, he was a Rockets Legend.

    Houston Rockets
    G: James Harden
    G: Calvin Murphy
    F: Tracy McGrady
    F: Rudy Tomjanovich
    C: Hakeem Olajuwon

Apologies to Hall of Fame big men Elvin Hayes, Moses Malone and Yao Ming, but it's hard to get one center in the Houston lineup these days. Of course, there's no debate about the candidacy of Olajuwon, who remains the best player in franchise history, even after Harden's run of historic offensive production.

Harden is 22 points away from passing Murphy for second on the Rockets' career scoring list, so for now the flamboyant, 5-foot-9 Murphy continues to be the only player who ranks among the franchise's top two in points and assists.

Rudy T is best remembered as the Clutch City-era coach and for the brutal punch that interrupted his playing career, but he earned his spot here with five All-Star appearances during a career spent entirely in a Rockets uniform.

    G: Anfernee Hardaway
    G: Nick Anderson
    F: Tracy McGrady
    F: Dwight Howard
    C: Shaquille O'Neal

One of the most explosive teams with pre Rockets.

    Pretty sick and couldn't shoot.

Anyone who does NOT have Big Mo on their 1st team is flat out IGNORANT and should be ashamed of themselves!!!

The man won not one but TWO MVP'S while with Rockets.

Cheap new Rockets owners traded Moses to 76ers and he became first ever NBA player to win back to back MVPs for 2 different teams.

The Chairman of the Boards was not only the most dominating rebounder in the 80's but was top 5 scorer during same time.

The infamous "fo,fo,fo" championship with 76ers is considered the most dominant playoff run in NBA history. One loss total.

Mo also was the only player in NBA history to average at least 20 and 10 for 4 different teams.

Only 3 Houston Rocket players who won MVP with team:

    Moses Malone (3 - 2 with Houston)
    Hakeem Olajuwon (1)
    James Harden (1)

*Russ Westbrook - (1 but with OKC)

Leaving Moses Malone off All Time Best Starting 5 is just plain ignorance.

    Moses Malone
    Hakeem Olajuwon
    James Harden
    Clyde Drexler
    Russ Westbrook

Bench: Elvin Hayes, Ralph Samson, Rudy Tomjanovich, Calvin Murphy, Charles Barkley, Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady, Chris Paul

Best Role Players: Sam Cassell, Robert Horry, Mario Elie, Vernon Maxwell, Ron Artest, Shane Battier, Trevor Ariza, PJ Tucker, Robert Covington
