Brown got $18 MM from the Lakers and $20 MM from Cleveland soon after that. Daryl said “he’s not hot now” hahaha. Walton was still a hot commodity at the time of this panel
I was fascinated about how open LeGarie was about abusing the media to get leverage in a negotiation, in particular, to "pre-sell" a coach before the initial meeting. This is very counterintuitive to how Morey likes to operate (as seen in most of his trading history and specifically the CP3 deal) - Morey does not want the media involved to sway certain aspects of the deal one way or another, and a lot of that has already come out. He stated specifically in the video that he believes the ORGANIZATION as a whole can be affected by the media in the middle of the deal because naturally, people read the news. My impression is that LeGarie is playing hardball and using the media to do it (there has been a lot of press around this, even through the finals) and the front office had enough and bypassed him. Even Bob Myers was dubious of LeGarie, just not as open as Morey was.
Talent pus cohesion is what is needed. So glad to hear about MDA. You either believe in cohesion or not and MDA is incredible at it. Now we just need a bit more talent and length.
More on this, please. Specifically about the passing lanes. My interest is piqued. Suspect I've overlooked that part of the defense.
Rockets have to sign MDA, he led them to the WCF (after McHale did the same) and won Coach of the Year. Meanwhile Raptors fire their Coach of the Year, hire a rookie Head Coach, win 58 games and take home the championship.
