You are correct, Trader Joe. This is the best news I have ever received in my entire life. Even better than learning I wasn’t the father of a hick baby.
I for one appreciate this intel, however, I think we have to assess it with the knowledge that teams haven't been pitching to him as much and intentionally walking him a lot. He's probably a little off from his groove and we should give him some slack, but either way I'm excited to see him hit. If he's able to replicate some of what he's done in the minors, he could be that big bat we've needed in the middle of the line-up and that's why all of us fans are down right giddy with his call-up.
It's possible he hasn't seen a decent pitch to hit in a month and has just been swinging. Major league pitchers won't be doing that...at least not right away.
He's been getting pitched around a ton, and not just the IBBs. That had to have been frustrating for him.
Dylan Bundy is a yokel from a small town in Oklahoma. Might as well be a moisture farmer. Not sure I'm digging this tweet.
Unlike past heralded call-ups, him likely being mainly a DH has an interesting enough aspect to it... doesn't have to worry about learning the shifts, navigating a new outfield, making adjustments to how pop-ups look in major league stadiums vs. minor league ones. Just focus on hitting. Swing at hittable pitches. Don't think, just swing (or don't).
Is this a real thing? The key is to have a good enough DH where you don't have to worry about him playing the field, unless its to give another player rest.
White is really going to struggle to find playing time now. Alvarez and Brantley are going to get all the DH time. Fisher/Straw/Marisnick/Kemp are going to get Springer’s innings. White might get a few games at 1B when Bregman plays SS (moving Gurriel to 3B), but once Diaz returns those will go away. His roster spot is probably safe until both Correa and Altuve are back, but he won’t play much. I think Mayfield will he sent down tomorrow when they go back to 13 pitchers (not sure which pitcher will be called up, probably Deetz or Armenteros). Here’s who I think will he sent down as each injured player comes back: Diaz: Straw Springer: Fisher Altuve: the 13th pitcher McHugh: Devenski (if Perez keeps pitching well) Stassi: Stubbs Correa: White DFA’ed Smith: Perez (or Devenski)
