My question is even if he fielded it clean would he been out with catcher blocking the plate?

    Don’t know Miko
    • The catcher may not block the pathway of a runner attempting to score unless he has possession of the ball. If the catcher blocks the runner before he has the ball, the umpire may call the runner safe.

At 44-21, we have the same record we did after 65 games during our 2017 World Series championship season.

The Raptors win, I had a great dinner on the town, and the Astros win. It doesn't get any better.

Weird game. The only move is not to play. How about a nice game of chess?

...still waiting on Yuli to touch home plate...ZZZ...

I’m sure the team has a plan... but inevitably, a brand new Alvarez and still adjusting Tucker won’t be expected to put up heroic numbers now. Maybe eventually, yes.

Till whenever that time is, Hinch has to play whoever is on the roster. I presumed you were clamoring for somebody on the bench that he wasn’t playing, but I guess not.

I thought he got his hand underneath to the plate. At least, it seemed like he was trying to.

I really didn't like what I saw in that last play. So, let's say the catcher actually does recover the ball and remembers to tag. There's no way for Yuli to get to the plate; the catcher is completely blocking it. And Yuli having to roll around to try to find the plate is dangerous. The catcher could easily snap his arm just by rolling over it in a weird way. Two guys arrive at the plate. At the actual plate, not the runner sliding around the catcher and having to go back to touch. The catcher drops it. That's it. The runner won. I've never liked the idea of just completely blocking the plate from the runner, but the runner certainly shouldn't be punished because he couldn't get to the plate after the play was basically over. I'm just glad Yuli's arm wasn't hurt or broken in that scenario.

I miss the days of the runner just being able to knock the hell out of the catcher.

You know, I was STRONGLY opposed to the signing as it happened. Even recently (as in before the OAK/SEA road trip) I felt like his early numbers this season were a fluke, and I thought he had just cooled down and was gonna be bad (this was when his BA was 230 or something, and he hadn't hit a homer in like 4 weeks). He sure has been great, and has proven me wrong for good. Yes, his batting average will probably just fluctuate between 240 and 250, but 25 or so homers from a catcher, plush clutch doubles? I'll take it, as long as he avoids the injury bug (so far, so good). His defense was also not as bad as it was before. Our staff really found a good one, and turned one team's trash into our own treasure. That said, with his age, doubt he's on the roster come 2021 or 2022. Hopefully we can develop Lee into the next Realmuto.

Don't care if he hits .240 if he has a .390 OBP and a .900 OPS...he's been awesome.
