Hope we get Dalton Fowler at 256. Would like to see a LHP, though the Astros clearly don't value LHP too much.

I think you can just copy and paste this post for every single draft pick.

    Hahaha yes.

Luis Guerrero, 4/5 of our last picks have been CF. Geez. I know you go BPA over need, but still. Wow.

I totally trust this organization in all facets, but man all these CF’s are reminding me or Morey drafting all those undersized PF’s:p

I suppose CF in this case just means "fast baseball athlete who can throw good and catch the ball okay too". Eligible for LF, RF, CF, 1B, and maybe even RHP during blowouts. If one of them tries really hard, he even might supplant Tyler White one day.

Amateur CFs become pro CFs, RFs, LFs, DHs, and 1Bs. Other than pitcher, I'd expect CF is up there with SS and C as the top drafted positions.

The Astros have a better group of INF than OF in extended right now, and they have had a ton of success with international signee pitchers, so the OF is somewhat of a need.

The Giants' 9th-round pick was Simon Whiteman, a shortstop from Yale

You can never have too many CF or Short stops. Perfect example was getting Correa, Fontana, Bregman, etc. The situation worked itself out. If it doesn’t work out, you will find a place for them to play. 3 CF patrolling the OF is dang good.

Yeah, and though we look to have a logjam of OF at the AA/AAA/AAAA level, the lower levels do seem to need more depth. Only Guerrero is a right handed thrower, so this eliminates a possible conversion to 2B/3B/SS. Not that it would happen anyhow, but in light of the Straw at SS project, I brought it up.

This too. Astros tend to love speed in the OF, as well as athleticism and defense overall.

Kessinger-Santana-Carrasco with Mendoza in there too. They could use a 1B, but I think one of those guys should be able to play 3B.

    Round 10, Pick 316: C.J. Stubbs, C, USC

    You may know his brother.

The third and final day of the 2019 MLB draft will start at 11 AM. The Astros' first pick of the day will be #346 overall.

There's our second catcher. Not surprising, I obviously saw this one coming. Based on Mama and Papa Stubbs' reactions last week I think they saw it coming too.
