Kyle McCann still available in the 4th. Still a LOT of really good college players available. Imho Houston is having an excellent draft so far.
Even with Lee, the extra catching depth is still nice. If he makes it to 136, he should definitely be considered. Great bat. Graeme Stinson, anyone? Ranked #70 by MLB.com, was highly touted going into this year's college baseball season, but had a down year. Has good stuff, left-handed, maybe a reclamation project? Though I hear he may want to return to Duke for his senior year and try to rebuild his draft stock. ETA: Just as I post that, I see the Rays took him. They're really stockpiling pitching this draft.
My ex-girlfriend’s little brother (Kasey Kalich) just got taken in the 4th round by the Braves. Went to several of his games when he was like 10 years old. He was really good back then and a nice kid from a great family. I had no idea his draft stock was that high. Will be rooting for him.
Round 4, Pick 136: Colin Barber, CF, Pleasant Valley High School, Chico, California Barber is an Oregon commit... that could be in question because they're in the midst of a coaching change.
Colin Barber. California HS OF. L/L. Four position players in a row. Is this year's pitching class really that bad as I've heard?
They'll try him out in CF first, he has the athleticism to do so. Luhnow and staff had a plan to bolster their up the middle talent and I love what they have done.
At first glance a high strikeout hs corner outfielder doesn’t seem like a great pick especially with all the other good players still available but Luhnow’s track record with HS draftees is pretty awesome so let’s see how he does.
I would love Thomas Dillard in the 5th if he’s available. Still a few other catchers (Clarke, Groshans, Johnson) who I think would also be good values.
Matt Dyer fits the athlete with a limited track record that they've been grabbing so far. If they grab another catcher today, I'd like him. Plus they like Arizona Wildcats.
