McGrady and Yao in the 10 best????

Ever heard of these players? (Some really talented players and have had far more success in the playoffs than Yao and McGrady)

    Shawn Kemp
    Reggie Miller
    Dominque Wilkins
    Elgin Baylor
    George Gervin
    Chris Webber
    Kevin Johnson

Also, I know Payton won it in 2006 with the Heat as limited role player but if we are saying winning it while carrying the team, then no he didnt either.

Kidd was an integral part of the Mavs team that beat the Heat to win the title.

He ran the offense and remolded his game to become a solid 3 point shooter.

He hit some big shots against the Thunder and the Heat, and his perimeter defense along with Marion's was a big reason they defended Heat so well.

Mitch Richmond was a helluva player and never made the playoffs.

Carmelo Anthony should be in consideration and Vince Carter was clearly better than TMac.

Mitch Richmond was Drexler lite of his days but because he played for the shitty Kings his entire career and never played in the playoffs, folks dont even remember him.

He was also a really nice guy.

Perhaps if he was a jerk he would have forced himself out.

Weird how this board underrates our current players and overrates our retired players. Recency bias and nostalgia are very real.

Mitch made the playoffs on 4 separate occasions....2 with GSW, one with the Kings, and one with the Lakers when they won it all. He even has a ring lol.

This. You could argue for Yao on on the list, but T-Mac? Nah. People who didn't watch him seem to over-rate him tremendously.

At one point (maybe his Orlando years) he was a top 3 player in the league and a scoring champ. He had huge flaws in his game, but a prime T-Mac could be considered a great player to not have won a ring.

Derrick Rose (won an MVP... and at his peak, definitely better than Yao).

Alex English - one of the most underrated dudes ever. Forget about Mitch Richmond (who someone correctly pointed out actually has a ring). English is still 18th all time in scoring. He averaged over 25 ppg for 8 years in a row. Averaged 30+ ppg one year in the playoffs taking Denver to the WCF, on 60% TS%. He had a 135 Ortg the Denver lost to the Lakers in the WCF, but I'd put good money that if I said who was the Nuggets best player in 84/85 when they lost to the Lakers in the WCF, 50% of posters on this board would have no clue. I'd put a ton of money that 95% of posters would have even less clue who the second leading scorer for them was that year. I know I would have been dead wrong and barely remember this player. I would have guessed their 3rd/4th leading scorers... as some might just thinking about Nuggets history.

    Paul
    McGrady
    Barkley

Those 3 had their primes elsewhere.

    That sounds much better.
It suprised me when a poster stated Mitch never even made the playoffs one time.
With as many teams as they let in that's a really hard feat to accomplish!

    Why is it sad?

James and Chris would have a ring were it not for Adam Silver's interference/CP3's hammy.

Yao would have had one when we were on our way to taking down the Lakers and he got hurt.

Big Sexy, same deal..He goes down when we're on our way.

The Rockets have done a brilliant job of positioning themselves over the years.

To say nothing of the teams that ran into LA, Boston,. Seattle, and Cocaine.

    We have a rich history.
