Someone's not too happy with the results: Klay hasn't made an All-NBA team since Durant joined the team.
Bagley? BAGLEY? Some writer thought Marvin Bagley III had a better season than one of these guys: Giannis, Paul George, KD, Kawhi, LeBron, Blake
Because in order to qualify for a SuperMax extension this summer, he had to at least make Third Team. His omission cost him tens of millions. Oops. "Hello, Failure. I thought I defeated you."
voting cost Warriors’ Klay Thompson $30 million Had Thompson gained 20-something more votes from a panel of media members and overtaken Charlotte’s Kemba Walker, he would have been in line for a five-year, $221 million designated veteran contract — or supermax contract — from the Warriors. While both Thompson and the Warriors have both indicated they want a deal to keep him in the Bay Area, the most Golden State can offer him now is a five-year, $191 million contract.
Klay Thompson 191 million (other team max 141) Kawhi Leonard 190 million (other team 141) Jimmy Butler 190 million (other team 141)
It is what it is Klay. You benefit from playing with 4 other all-stars and an aging all-star in Iguodala. Other guys like Dame, Kyrie, Harden, and even Kemba...don't have the luxury of having bad games and their team still winning. If Klay is so mad he should go to the Clippers and prove that he's as good as all these other guards.
He is not "so mad" per video, considering how much money it cost him. He also makes a valid point. We'll find out if he truly prefers rings to being named all-NBA this off-season - if they can sweep 6 games on a way to finals without KD, he has little excuse to leave.
Good. Go try to be a #1 option somewhere else and not win. Klay has gotten plenty of individual awards, all star selections while being a 2nd/3rd fiddle on a super duper team. While guys like Lillard, Conley, Harden (in 2015/2016) get shafted while trying to carry an entire team.
