I can really see him switching all over the place on the perimeter. :D

In theory, we could SnT Shumpert using just Bird Rights, but you'd need a team willing to pay him for 3 years at ~$5 MM per year. Not unreasonable, but it'd be another moving part in a deal full of them already.

I wonder if it's feasible to do these deals in the 2018-19 fiscal year, where Love's cap number is $24 MM. In 2019-20, it jumps to $28 MM, making it harder to match salary in any deal.

In fairness, his switches on the perimeter will be as good or better than Capela's. The problem is inside where he gets taken advantage of.

I don't see Shumpert being S&T. Teams get hard capped when S&Ts are executed and they don't want to box themselves in on that.

I could see the Rockets signing Shumpert to a 2yr ~12M contract (2nd year Team Option). THEN....on December 15 he would be trade eligible and could be aggregated in trades. That's how Shumpert would be used via a trade. Not via anything this summer or in any S&Ts.

I can see how this helps against GS. PJ defending KD left us vulnerable for the defensive rebounds. I think KL would be better than CC in getting those. I don’t think our D has ever been much about blocks anyway.

Agree main thing is health and wouldn’t worry about him shooting too many 3s bcuz I believe we would really use his high elbow and low post ability a lot more here.

I know sounds crazy I’m saying that with the way our system is but I can see changes being made to some degree.

F the showrunners, introducing a new character now who will make no difference in the greater plot.

Love is smart as hell with good hands and consistently great technical rebounding skills.

He’s been a clear positive by defensive impact metrics for 5 straight seasons.

I don’t think he’s ideal against GS though.

It would certainly help our God awful defensive rebounding. In his 22 games this year he had a monster 40% DREB...LOL

We obviously need some variability in our offense. That said... even in his prime Love wasn’t an amazingly efficient two point guy. Last year it was horrendous. He shot 38% for the year overall. 41% from two.

But if he could give you about 50% from two, putbacks, elbow jumpers, etc. then great.

I don’t have an issue with the strategy. I’m not sold on the specific player to fulfill that strategy. Especially if it means giving up Capela.

However... noted that this is the type of stuff they’re kind of forced to consider now.

Always trying to go after the same players. By the time the Rockets get them they're too old and/or past their prime.

I liked the thought of adding Love a few years ago. I just can’t get over his injury history. Yes he would space the floor and probably help our rebounding issues, but for how many games? I just don’t see him staying healthy.

The contract is ridiculous. No thank you.

Love is like 30 million for 4 more seasons that isn't happening.Just get Butler let him be the "step on the throat player" that we need. This dude will thrive with the coaching staff here offense and defense. CP3 and Tucker will love him.
