Sadly, considering Houston's luck, exiting the city might be their biggest advantage. I'd MUCH rather keep the team though... and hope for the best.
Les thought about moving the Rockets to Louisville putting pressure on the city to make him Toyota Center Remember Never forget
Houston’s luck? This is Clutch City. OP might not remember the genesis of ClutchFans: ClutchFans.net > ClutchCity.net > SaveOurRockets.com Shame for even bringing this up, raising memories of the franchise’s darkest days, when a few short years after the championships, Les Alexander threatened to move the team to Louis-f***ing-ville. Ban thread, Delete User.
Yeah, the tickets are selling, so... Even if it's a lot of corporate money, the seats are all paid for
Yeah, let's not relive the nightmare of Les having a fit and trying to leave for Louisville, I mean the Louisville Rockets?? - no no nope. Thankfully the Rockets stayed in Houston, hell we're lucky enough that they left San Diego
If you ever go to games you would know it's not 100% full. It's probably like 70% full. I know those tickets are sold, but it's crazy how people will spend 200 in lower sideline tickets and not go.
Same here and no disrespect to the great fans on this site, but in general the Rockets are treated by the rest of the city with an overall lack of interest. All I ever hear on sports radio during the NBA season is about the damn Texans. The Texans disappoint annually as well, but the fans talk more about them in the off-season than they do about the Rockets during their actual season. This has been going on for years including Ming/McGrady and of course the Harden years. Ask yourself, why would Tilman go over the luxury tax for a city who doesn’t give back whatsoever for his team. No matter his “wordplay”, his actions show how us that his business acumen is what he is following. Harden broke NBA record after NBA record this season to empty seats and therefore the owner gave picks and players away to get under the luxury tax, thus ending our championship hopes at the trade deadline.
In this fall... this is very tough... in this fall I'm going to move my team to Galveston Beach. I feel like it's going to give us the best opportunity to win and to win for multiple years, and not only just to win in the regular season or just to win five games in a row or three games in a row, I want to be able to win championships. And I feel like we can compete down there.
Right, it sucks from a viewership pov, but I'm sure the owner is good with it (since ticket sales look great)
I feel you, just saying.. most Houston fans don't extract "clutch" when speaking about their teams. This comment isn't limited to the Rockets... and rightfully so
