Very true that. We consistently beat OKCs and Jazzs of the world in the playoffs. We feast on these more flawed teams.

The Bucks, the Spurs, and watch Denver, these are very well coached teams. Also the Blazers. Terry Scotts whip those boys into a system finally.

Who were the top 5 teams last year anyway.
    Rockets, GSW, Raptors?? LeBron, Jazz?

Last year Celtics were definitely better than Jazz in my opinion. NOP and Jazz maybe about same but NOP had superstar, Jazz had none.

I lean towards the second camp - cept Morey is fine. Morey filled the roster superbly by the end - MDA jus didnt maximize it...
MDA is a good coach - but he just aint gettin the job done. Idc about reg season success - its all about the ring - and MDA blows opportunities with his stubborness. I'd guess he feels he has already relinquished true control to first DM - and then the stars - and D to Bzdelik. He's just doing what he can not to step on toes... but he stubbornly sticks to stuff he can control - rotation and minutes - while trying to pump his offensive stats and staying out of the way on other stuff. That dont fly...
We need somebody who will take control and be responsible for the whole thing. Someone who will hold our stars accountable... be willing to adjust in games... Somebody who will run plays - and not just give every player on the team a green light to chuck 3s 24/7....

MDA is better than most - but I'm not seeing him being the answer...
MDA is the Marty Schottenheimer of the NBA - a great reg season coach - but a guy who aint gonna get you to the promised land...
As far as a replacement... idk...
I'm ready to give JVG a shot again....
I think most of our offensive numbers would plummet... but hopefully we would adopt better focus and the grittiness needed to win pivotal games...

Hahaha JVG crossed my mind as a possible replacement. That will be something isn’t it. Going from MDA to JVG. Hahaha. It’s a nice way to say fxxk you Harden.

But in all seriousness, the game has left JVG and he probably knows that too.

idk... listening to him talk during games it seems he is far more receptive than he used to be... i think he sees the game evolving... I think having had a ringside seat he sees the benefits of Moreyball... while at the same time has the old school appreciation for the fact that in crunch time you gotta have a plan to finish at the rim with 2 hands....
More than anything he's a tenacious lil guy who I think will push our players - at both ends of the court - while at the same time being a good enough guy that he's not gonna alienate our stars...

    ...jus a thought...

I know Morey isn't perfect, but is there any doubt that he's not one of the finest GM's in the league? I'm pretty sure were are a top 3 winningest teams over the last decade. He's not infallible. He's made some mistakes. But i'd bet on him to figure out a way to get us another shot at the title in the near future. And for those calling for his head, who do you think could do better? We've had legit shots at the title the last two years.

I think it's time to look for a less 1-dimensional head coach. someone who understands the importance of defense and rebounding, and will bring more structure to the offense. There are a lot of good coaches out there. MDA's contract is up.. Why not take a look at the possible alternatives?

    His game is 1990.
He shined with a big man like Ewin or Yao. He would be a punching bag (actually he was) to MDA. :D.

Morey is smart, he knows any algorithm needs to be consistently honed, ours is not done yet.

    They've already tweaked & changed.

Swapped out the roster around Harden.

    Only thing(s) that haven't changed:
    GM-->Same GM for 12 years (+Thaddeus Brown)
    James Harden
    Hardenball/Isoball/Moreyball

They don't have a 1st round pick. They don't have a 2nd round pick. They've spent all their cash.
    They have no cap space.
They're faced with losing Austin Rivers, Iman Shumpert, Kenneth Faried, Gerald Green & maybemaybeno Danuel House
Only have full bird rights on Iman.

    1st round exit (Thunder 4-2)
    1st round exit (Blazers 4-2)
    Conference Finals exit (W 4-1 Mavs; W 4-3 Clippers; L 4-1 Warriors)
    1st round exit (Warriors 4-1)
    Semifinals exit (W 4-1 Thunder; L 4-2 Spurs)
    Conference Finals exit (W 4-1 Wolves; W 4-1 Jazz; L 4-3 Warriors)
    Semifinals exit (W 4-1 Jazz; L 4-2 Warriors)

    7-16 vs Warriors

Rockets & Warriors were once on par with each other. (Warriors actually worse years prior)
    2012-13: GSW 47-35 | HOU 45-37
    2013-14: GSW 51-31 | HOU 54-28
Warriors fired Mark Jackson, hired Steve Kerr and haven't looked back since; won 3 of 4 Finals, going for 4 in 5
And didn't the Warriors play isoball (maybe not to the same extreme) under Jackson?

As the Warriors attract stars on discounts, Houston gets the washed up stars and gives them max deals.

One other point I forgot to mention is how the demeanor/attitude of the coach translates to play.

D'antoni just feels way too laid back at times, I never get that grit/ruggedness from him like I do from Popovich/Snyder/JVG

Outside of PJ and CP3, it always feels like the rest of our guys could play tougher/harder/nastier

We need to get a coach that can inject that level of tenacity/nastiness in our play

I think we should hire JVG and Mark Jackson together as co-head coaches.

Jesus Christ, JVG would have 20 mini heart attacks trying to coach out all of Harden's horrible lazy tenndencies game to game.

If true than we need to blow this thing up already. Tier 2 teams don’t play in the ship!

    Coach must go
    Capela traded
    Tucker cloned
Harden grows a pair during playoffs
    CP3 restructuring contract

..... none of this will happen. We will get Butler or someone similar and “Run it back” again. Many of us saw this coming but we figured KD would have done more to put us here. Smh.
