I prefer long hair on women. Just about in every case long hair is better visually to me. There are some women that can pull off the shorter hair. But I think you have to be pretty thin/small to do it. Why the long hair? I think it probably has to do with the *feminine image* that was imprinted in my mind as a youth. In the macro sense, have the feminine characteristics that you appreciated as a youth changed much now as an adult? My teenage years were the 80's and that left a BIG imprint on me. (For the record, ladies can wear their hair anyway they want. They should absolutely do what makes them happy. But my own preference is longer hair.)
I guess the 1980’s would have had a “big” impact. “Big hair” was big back them. Especially long hair that was “blown up.” Also shorter hair was “exploded.” Perms were very popular. My significant other was into it a bit, but didn’t go overboard. We were a lot older than you, of course, particularly me. How i wish I was that age again! Like most of the people in hair I think long hair results more feminine, thats why its more attractive, also woman flirt and can seduce with long hair, there is other way to grab the attention of the guy. Back then, in the military, girls shaved or cut their long hair, because that made them look tougher with short hair. Also woman normally look younger if they have long hair vs they have short hair.
Feel like it should be three options... Long, medium, short Don't see how short would ever win. Long vs. medium, though.

Feminine beauty is essentially a marker for (or the same as) fertility, which is what men look for on a DNA level. Long hair is one of the markers of fertility. So, of course long hair is preferred.
Asking men if they prefer women's hair short vs long is like asking women if they prefer penises to be short vs long.
Many women go shorter when they get older like grandmother age, so I’ve always thought longer is more youthful and thus attractive.
My girlfriend when I was a Senior in HS then the summer after, 90-91, had massive hair like the second chick pictured. I liked it OK, and I liked her because she was always ready to go. But the few times she straightened it out she instantly became a 10. I couldn't ever convince her to keep it straight. Then she left me some older guy and it was grunge time so the girls I was in to after that didn't have the massive puff.
Always had a short hair thing, but it's rare when they pull it off. Usually best on shortish petite girls, with sharp features and big doe-y eyes and just very low body fat in general especially in the face. Even find buzzed hair hot if on the right girl ala prime Sinead O'Conner or Natalie Portman vs someone like Britney Spears who looked like a nightmare(baby fat type of cheeks, droopy eyes, just overall features that don't work with a round short buzz head shape). Really not into the shaved side though.
