Sounds like most fans have more of a problem with the positioning of the pick vs. the player himself. Honestly the 1st round couldn't have been scripted any better for us. So to go from "OMG we're gonna get Dillard" to a player we seemingly could've traded back for is disappointing. But that's the draft...

I went back and repped some people who were all in on the Watt pick.

It is pretty funny how some overreacted.

I'm not saying they should have traded up or down.

I'm just confused as to why we are jumped every year. Someone is leaking our intel.

Gaine had nothing to hide behind. Every GM knew Dillard was our guy.

To me it's not about whether a draft pick will turn out good or bad. No one can fully predict how 21yr old college students will be for the next 4-5 years once they have to work and have millions in their bank account.

To me it's always been how you feel the process has been. Morey or Ludnow in this draft, assuming they also really loved Howard, would've done something like traded down to the 2nd round and then traded back up to like the 31st pick and got him, betting a 4th or 5th in the process. That's a sign of a front office looking to maximize value.

The Texans are the team that just look at their draft board and select the name at the top. Which while technically isn't wrong, reeks of laziness.

And as people keep comparing him to Duane Brown, remember the Texans traded down before picking him.

This is where GM’s get their reputation, Gaines picks have looked good from last season. I like what he did last season.

If he gets good production from this draft, it will continue building his resume in a positive manner. He sure disappointed a lot of people with the pick last night. Keep in mind His job is on the line based on his decision, ours aren’t.

Every team has a list of how they perceive prospects and veteran players. The list from CBS, ESPN, Yahoo Sports, Walter Football are opinions from connected people who have expertise, but are opinions. Teams hold interviews with players, measure exactly what they are curious about in terms of athletic production, IQ, character, chemistry, etc... This is something that National pundits don’t have, as they don’t know everything about the teams and their makeup. They ESPN’s analyze in a morning water cooler format which folk seem to be drawn to; though not very informative.

The obvious elite talent is unmistakable, but when you get to the next level where everyone is productive but not super super star, that is the trick. Finding the perennial pro bowler amongst the stars to who will produce and who will wilter in the pressure, that is the name of the game.

And you are ****ing clueless if u thought I was serious. LOL. I know it HARD to understand over the internet...but that post was more about how people OVERREACT to Texans but give Astros a pass ( one WS doesn’t give them a pass). Hell, people overreact to Morey’s moves because they don’t see the LONG game.

However, the ONE thing the Texans have shown to get right: 1st round draft picks.

If you have a huge problem with people having a real-time reaction to decisions and performance of a sports team, maybe an internet message board is not for you.

You want to get Texan fans to stop ripping the organization?

It's really simple.......... don't be incompetent and win something of value or hell....... just be in the same area code at this point.

The Texans haven't been "very good" at anything except making excuses, which is why they have been a mediocre franchise.
