Following its premiere at CinemaCon a few weeks ago, Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for the Ang Lee-directed and Will Smith-led sci-fi thriller “Gemini Man”. Smith plays an ageing assassin attempting to leave the lifestyle, but finds himself hunted by a younger clone of himself. Smith also plays the clone, utilising extensive de-ageing to take him back to resembling early 1990s Smith. Lee’s version will be testing 60fps 3D, and 120fps 2D in select locations. Most of the world though will see a regular 24fps 2D version. “Gemini Man” is currently slated to open in cinemas on October 4th. http://www.darkhorizons.com/first-trailer-will-smith-in-gemini-man/
it actually doesn't. It just your mind making looking for the imperfections because it's unbelievable. It's a mental thing.
I've yet to see a digital moving face that I couldn't immediately tell was a digital face. At least close up. Photos can trick me, but motion isn't even close. So i don't think it has anything to do with my mindset. The other CGI, such as the motorcycle stuff, didn't look great either. Id prefer just another actor play young will smith
I also don't think the 60/120 fps will help either for cgi, I dunno like in movies that are filmed and viewed at 48 ,just don't look as great vs 24 for cgi currently, I'm not saying here in trailer for sure , but a true 120fps film viewed at a true 120 (so not the bullshit motion effect tvs) I think is going to limit the cgi until it gets better. And I think it will take a little longer to get things looking right. I'm thinking of the original Hobbit being filmed in 48, I mean maybe the 3D was better but I don't really watch 3D.
It looks as good as it could look I guess. It is probably 10-20 years away until you can make it truly hard to tell. Some movies that are from the past are interesting to watch to see how far they have come.
Is he using an accent? I really can't tell. Also, I don't think they should have revealed it was himself in the trailer. That would have been a nice surprise.
