Yordan Alvarez just homered again. This solo shot is his 10th of the season and gives Round Rock a 9-4 lead in Memphis.

He, Taylor Jones, and Jack Mayfield all have 3 RBI today.

Pretty negative assessment based on watching a handful of innings of 1 game. I won’t be surprised if Bukauskas ends up in the bullpen but if he does I think he’ll be an excellent setup man or closer. Not a horrible outcome for a middle first rounder. His pro career has been interrupted frequently so it’s not like he’s had a ton of on-field development time to refine his game. There’s still time and Houston won’t need to rush him.

I'm not a fan of Hulet. I expect he looked as terrible as he was described. I would count this early part a red flag, but I agree with you I wouldn't make any sweeping conclusions about him based on this season so far.

Yikes! Tucker down to a .129 BA after an 0-5.

Alvarez is like Billy Joel as a lounge act in the early 70’s:

“....man, what are you doing here?”

Fangraphs also has a more glowing review of a different prospect as well.

    https://blogs.fangraphs.com/daily-prospect-notes-4-22-19/

    Yordan Alvarez, 1B, Houston Astros
    Level: Triple-A Age: 21 Org Rank: 7 FV: 50
    Line: 2-for-4, HR, 2B

    Notes
It’s important that we look at Triple-A statistical performances (especially in the PCL) in a different light given what is transpiring with the baseball itself, but we can still appreciate Alvarez’s blistering start with that in mind. After a little over two weeks, he’s slugging .870; nine of his 17 hits have been home runs, and he has one more walk than strikeout thus far. He’s played eight games in left field, five at DH, two at first base, and one in right field. Most all of Houston’s big league hitters are mashing right now (Tyler White is hitting lefties, at least), so there’s not an obvious short-term path to big league playing time here. If anyone goes down though, perhaps Alvarez will get the call instead of a struggling Kyle Tucker.

So... Jojanse Torres pitched 1.2 innings for Quad Cities and all of the outs he recorded came via the strikeout.

Appears the swinging strike % leader for both Corpus and Fayetteville in this early part of the season is none other than Jose Bravo. Anyone know anything about this guy?

Riley Cabral was selected in the 31st round of last year's draft out of Memphis.

He went 1-0 with a 3.57 ERA in 16 relief appearances for Tri-City last summer.

Corpus, Fayetteville, and Quad Cities all have 26 players on their current active rosters.

Non-bonus 2015 signee from Mexico. Good size, has put up excellent k/bb ratios at every stop so far, with an especially low walk rate. Don’t know anything about his stuff or recent developments. Great sign for him to be so effective in High A and AA early on as a 21 year old.

I want to say he could touch 92 as an 18 year old when he signed. The fact that he's been shuttled to Corpus and Fayetteville is probably not a sign the Astros are super high on him.

He doesn't seem to have thrown a whole lot. Didn't pitch in 2017 and just 40 odd innings last year. Interesting though that he's been pretty good when he has pitched.

Austin Hansen walked three and struck out five over five no-hit/shutout innings for Quad Cities today.

Austin Hansen with 5 no-hit innings for QC today, 3BB, 5K

RJ Freure (pronounced Frewer I just learned) in now, he's an interesting guy to follow given his early season success. Needs to cut down the walks.

Quad Cities will finally be able to play games at their own park.
