Gotcha. Been hearing Babers' name for years. Maybe just promote then hire Chad Morris when he's canned in a year or two. Y'all probably love Chad Morris for whatever reason.
I prefer the style we are playing now. The air raid spread is dead and our defense should be better should be better than the Briles era
As long as Baylor is competitive next year, Rhule will get to pick his staff and be an NFL head coach if he wants in 2020.
Which is fine by me bc it gives us a year to prepare for his exit. I'm hoping we retain the Texas guys (Joey McGuire and Shawn Bell).
I like the new color palette. The old scheme was so... old man. The most boring shades of green and gold in existence. Colors you'd use in a reverse mortgage company's logo.
Maroon seems to be quite popular with that industry. https://www.google.com/search?clien...78.457.7......0....1..gws-wiz-img.lMeLehcYCuc
Green/gold - no excuse to not get usage out of those colors. Maroon is tough, it doesn't pair with anything that isn't neutral. So as long as they keep it simple it's fine, but it's definitely boring and restricted. Burnt orange is another color that doesn't play nice with others.
Maroon or Burnt Orange sells itself. You're right about Baylor, the dark green and gold is awesome, just like TCUs dark purple. They just need to keep Nike away and stop using 32 different obnoxious color schemes. Find one or two and go.
How legit is Baylor this year? Simulations have the UT-Baylor game in Waco as a tossup. In case you guys care, former Baylor commit Patrick Hudson retired from football at UT after only playing a handful of games. Patrick was one of the big gets from the Art Briles fallout.
I would say we don't look too far off from the teams that won those consecutive conference championships talent-wise. We have a number of guys that can find the end-zone and are pretty loaded at the skills position. Mims returning was big similar to Colin Johnson for Texas. The offensive line will be the big question mark. Charlie Brewer is better when protected of course, but he does have some decent wheels on him and I'm looking for him to continue to improve now that he's in his junior year. The defense looked to be swarming, but against weak competition. We'll know more after the conference opener against Iowa State. Baylor was threatening late at Texas with a chance to steal it at the end last year in Austin. I was still somewhat surprised to see us slightly favored atm in the win probability index.
One of the few that was positive about hiring Rhule. He's turned out to the perfect guy to turn around the culture. I also like this style of football that Baylor plays more than what Briles did.. feel like we would have a better chance to win the big game. We lost to Bortles and UCF and blew a 20 point 4th quarter lead to Michigan State because we could never let off the gas even a bit.
Baylor University and head football coach Matt Rhule have reached an agreement on a contract extension for the third-year coach, Vice President and Director of Athletics Mack B. Rhoades IV announced Sunday. The new amendment to Rhule’s original seven-year contract results in an extension through March 31, 2028
2-0 in conference play and right outside of the rankings Rhule was also extended through 2027.. hoping we can pick up some good recruits!
