"It's working". Based on what empirical evidence? I'm not opposed to the idea but I immediately start from a contra-position against anything Bleacher Report says. It's a hive of undergrad marketing bros masquerading as sports journalism.
i got so many vegan friends all in everyone's face both live and on social media every single week. it's made me double up my meat intake in the past year
It's healthier in terms of reducing your cancer risk and modestly increasing lifespan - and even that data isn't great. I know of no data suggesting it improves athletic performance. In fact, that was always a concern among people I knew who grew up on plant-based diets but wanted to compete athletically
This is pretty damn cool. I’m vegetarian and try to be vegan. I feel a lot better overall. So for me it was easy when I switched I didn’t want to go back. Only bad thing is ppl love to talk **** about you so I never tell ppl in person unless they ask why. Ppl always want to tell me that they are eating meat. Good for you bro, I don’t give a ****.
To be fair, not ALL vegans are of the in-your-face variety. I'm a lifelong omnivore, but have many vegan and vegetarian friends, and none of them ever lecture me. CP3 recently started doing ads for Beyond Meat, a company that does a pretty good job of creating plant-based food that's supposed to look, cook, and taste like the real thing. Objectively, it's tasty but still a long way from meat. Close enough for people who haven't had meat in years, though.
I would love to be a vegan due to health benefits. Vegan dishes are so amazing now that it basically taste like your eating meat. Problem is accessibility and cost. They can be really pricey and if you're not a great cook, prepping can be really difficult.
It's no coincidence that Kyrie/Deandre/CP3 are all vet players - you start to feel the inflammation in your joints as you get older. I'm a hardcore boot camper and I feel it, I can only imagine how it feels as a professional athlete.
I know what you mean...I've been plant based for a year and a half making the change because my cholesterol was climbing to statin territory. After the change my cholesterol dropped 56 points to 192. Same results for the wife and more recently my sister who after taking blood pressure meds for several years no longer needs them. People do like to give you crap though. Especially younger people that think they'll live forever. I know I did when I was younger. Glad the change is working for these players!
Plant-based protein can totally sustain athletes; it can be more expensive though, but these guys have personal chefs. No prob at all.
