You don't know what the McNair's really think about winning a SB - you have to guess like the rest of us. To imagine that they don't want to give their team every chance to win is naive. Hmm...Brian Gaine did a decent job his first year I thought. I'ma gonna give him time to marinate.
Of course they would rather win a Super Bowl than not make the playoffs. I just don't believe it is a burning desire based on the history of the franchise and the decisions they have made. He deserves a chance to fail or succeed and it is possible he will succeed despite who owns the team. He deserves a chance...... but he has to overcome a really mediocre owner and head coach.......
I’m not a believer that owners win championships. Talent and coaching win. The Texans are afforded the same resources as every other nfl team. Paul Krafts desire is no different than any other owner. Rub and tugs and profits. Kraft happened to luck into the best qb of all time who was also willing to get paid less than market to build a dynasty.
This is what building through the draft can entail. If ol hoodie cant hit on all his picks, Gaine sure as hell cant either.
Like... what, exactly? To make this statement hold *any* water, you'd have to demonstrate the owner actively making decisions that handcuff management - like Drayton McLane refusing to sign draft picks. The McNairs have given their employees *ample* resources to make it happen. Their stadium and facilities are top-notch; they haven't been cheap; they don't meddle or interfere... You can't take poor results/bad decisions and retroactively decide that because a decision didn't work out, it's proof they didn't want to win a Super Bowl. Ed Reed was a bad (BAD) decision - but can you honestly argue it wasn't 100%-focused on winning a Super Bowl? Here's another one: remember them forcing Kubiak to hire Wade Phillips, who has subsequently been to two Super Bowls?... They might not be *smart* owners - but they're certainly not *bad* owners.
You don't have to hit on *all* of them. If he drafts a competent tackle and cornerback, it's a successful draft, no matter what the other 6 picks turn into.
Sure, but when the average career of a nfl player is 3 years, "hitting" on a draft pick is drafting a serviceable player. That could mean "hitting" on all career backups. Not what we NEED right now.
Definitely more quality than any rb on the Texans roster. I’d take Jordan Howard running the ball 25+ times per game over Lamar Miller any day. BOB loves to run the ball. No secret there. Problem is Lamar Millers strength is running outside the tackles and he is used as a 3 down back. Jordan Howard’s numbers from 2018 don’t reflect his skill set because Cohen fits Chicago’s offensive style a bit better with his ability to catch out of the backfield and line up in the slot. Howard will put up big numbers in philly mark my word
Good player. Very familiar with him John. Works hard, good runner, excited to see how he can help us.
