Look we've seen the worst of Shumpert. Maybe he's just a slow learner. Not a good trait to have with MDA, but he is almost certainly going to shoot and defend better than this. He has never been this bad, the only reason that such a thing would would happen in the middle of him having a good season is if that knee injury is worse than we're being told. If he becomes more confident in that 3pt shot, cuts out the mid range jumpers and gets accustomed to switching a lot... (I'm just now realizing that that's a lot of if's but you get the point)
Slow to learn can be fatal (cough, Marquese Chriss, cough), but so can stubbornness. Shump has talked about his pride in defending mano-a-mano. How many times have we seen him and Nene end up on the same guy 25 feet from the basket, while the roller goes uncontested to the hoop? He just won't let go.
I'm not convinced that's just him. In the last few games, a lot of our guys have been faking from 3 and going in, either to the hoop or to mid-range or to drive and dish. Looks like something the coaching staff may have encouraged. A bit clumsy so far, but if it's to stop teams from closing us out at the arc all the time, I like it.
Yup. MDA is quick to judge and we don't have much room for error, and any breathing room we have should be in the interest of making our final tweaks and getting some rest to end the season. I'm sure it's been as mentally exhausting as it's been physically. If the next man up is not buying into the project, there's no time for mushy hugs and his FA situation won't benefit from it either.
Shumpert is a better player than KCP. At the beginning, DM is trying to get KCP. continues to play like this, Market price: House 2-year 14 million Shumpert 1-year Vet Min
Never said he was. I said he's never been this bad (28.2%). In fact the only season of his career he's shot worse is a 14 game stint in Cleveland (26.9%). On the Kings this season he hit 36.6% of 4.8 attempts. On the 16-17 Cavs, he hit 36% of 3.4 attempts. For his career, he has been 34.1% on 3.2 attempts. The most likely scenario is he improves his shooting a good amount. This is besides the fact that he's never defender this poorly either, even though he has never been elite. Again, unlikely his career declined a couple of tiers right at the trade deadline. This is the worst we'll see him.
Shump needs to spend more time with Bzdelik watching film. Bzdelik has to convince Shump that being switch D expert can increase his value, e.g. mo money.
Actually Shumpert and House were on the floor at the same time last game. Oh! The rules are that you have to say one guy is worse. Why? It's CF entertainment!
i noticed 3 plays last nite where he didn't even close out on the shooter (a la capela) and gave up 2 easy three's and a 17footer to MIN. when i watch him play sometimes i just don't understand wtf goes thru this guy's mind (on both ends)
I’d rather green and house be in the playoff rotation than shumpert. Green will give would a couple 18 point games in the playoffs, and can give a quick offensive burst
Yup he looked totally lost out there. Seems to always let his guy blow past him and give up and 1's. Can't seem to defend anyone without fouling
