Suspect that they were putting all of their eggs (ie money) in the Honey Badger basket, not expecting KC to offer so much, and had moved on from KJ or were going to offer him if he got through the first phase of FA.
Jackson at SS could be an all pro. As solid a tackler as I’ve ever seen. We kept sticking him at corner where he was mediocre.
The salary cap went up, but the Redskins set the market at $14M and suddenly if you got some talent--BAM your rich. Jackson getting $11M is crazy, I think that's Fool's Gold, but we'll see how he plays in their defense. He's a good hitter, just not a great cover corner despite what PFF says.
Teams tried to make it seem like safety wasn't an important position in order to give the NFL an excuse not to sign Eric Reid. It was collusion and why Kaep and Reid got multimillion settlements.
Eric Reid got signed in September 2018 by the Panthers, way before the talks about the lawsuit ended.
This was a down year for free agents, especially at premium positions like LT and CB. This over inflated values across the board IMO, but more so for safeties who had the strongest group in quite some time.
