Kenny Smith playing defense for the Rockets.......... I don't think people realize just how bad he was. Olajuwon covered for him almost every trip down the court.

Kenny Smith has had a tough year.... his second wife left him and tried to take half of his stuff.

People who think Kenny Smith should kiss the Rockets ass on TNT don't understand that Les Alexander doesn't pay him anymore.
TNT does (and probably much more money)

The REAL KENNY SMITH was worse than Rafer Alston and never called the jet in Houston.

It's not about kissing the Rockets' ass. It's about being genuine and true, and Kenny is neither of those things. Of Chuck, Shaq, and Kenny, which of those 3 do you trust to come up with the most informed and educated basketball opinions? Obviously the answer is Kenny, because that's the role he's paid to have and he embraces that role. So if that's his role, then doesn't he owe it to the fans to actually HAVE informed and educated basketball opinions? Instead, he constantly dismisses the James Harden-led Houston Rockets for reasons that he can never substantiate with facts. He never gives us any kind of credit, and when it was a clear-cut opportunity yesterday to open the nation's eyes as to how the Rockets have been playing lately, he instead chooses to go with the most asinine take possible. THAT is why he's a sellout.

    Lol ... ENIGMA much??

You constantly badger people about being “Pure” using your 99er schtick as a basis for your badgering! Kenny continuously goes out of his way to throw the Rockets under the bus, and we are supposed to ignore this because he played for our Rockets during the Championship years? He will get no respect from me as long as he continues his douchey ways!! It has nothing to do with kissing Rockets ass, it’s about showing respect even when criticizing your former team!

Talking about TNT, he wouldn’t even have that job if it weren’t for his good fortune of playing with Dream during our “Two Championships”! He’s a crappy commentator/host who has no respect or love for HTown!!

(P.S) I'll gladly cheer when it’s Dream/Elie/Horry/Cassell/Maxwell/RudyT etc. Bday! I only cheer for “Pure” Rockets players!!

    Go Rockets!!!

Kenny has had the TNT job for like 15 years?

He's a good analyst on TV for sure, when you get player's only, you realize how good Kenny, Charles and Ernie are

People were complaining that TNT didn't love the Tmac led Rockets.

Anyone on the championship teams owe nothing to the Rockets fans.

Not even Matt Bullard or Scottie Brooks

    No,

Kenny was a much better shooter, and distributer than Rafer ever was.

Kenny Smith 44% from 3, best year
    Rafer 36% best year

Kenny had no issues getting Dream the ball.

Rafer could never get a good inbounds pass.

TNT Kenny Smith is not the same as Rockets player Kenny Smith

99ers have witnessed Clutch City and every team after that.

    You can't defeat pureness.

    Kenny “the jet” Smith
I didn’t respect you as a Rocket (crazy talent and a wuss demeanor). Dunk and 3 point contest same year but Scottie Brooks has to finish the games. Sam Cassell comes and Kenny go to the media crying about playing time and who starts the third quarter and such.

Now he is the add on to the all star cast on a national tv show (why & how?). Talks noise the Barkley like he was a main part of the Rockets—> he could not finish an NBA games.

    He gave himself a nickname

I have less respect now than when he played.

Happy Birthday “jet” go away already.

he wasn't there for defense, his early 90s years were fantastic.

Dream covered for everyone. One suspect defensive player on the starting lineup is better than 4 suspect players.

Kenny Smith got undressed by Derek Harper in the Finals.

Harper put a complete clamp on Kenny. There were games in that series where he went scoreless or shot 15-25%.

What made it worse for Kenny was that Harper was absolutely torching him on the other end.

Derek Harper was the best player for the Knicks in that series and the reason was Kenny Smith.

Luckily we had Hakeem to make up for deficit at PG.

Overall, Kenny Smith was a coward of a player and a mental midget. If you had watched him play regularly you would have noticed how he avoided contact and kept his drives to the basket at a minimum. So, no surprise that he crumbled against Harper's physical defense. Luckily we had Sam Cassell to save us in Ga,e 3 in NY.

Kenny was my least favorite Rocket. He was porous on defense and put a lot of pressure on team defense. And not like he was creating offense on the other end either. Hakeem was creating 90% of the offense on that team. I always thought that if we had a tougher player at PG on defense, our defense would have been much better than it was.

Kenny Smith is also a horrid analyst on TNT. He tries too hard to sound different and smart. Most of his analysis and "analytics" are forced trash. Derek Harper, as an analyst/announcer for the Mavs is better than Kenny Smith. Harper is actually very articulate and makes solid points.

Lastly, he hates on the Rockets on TNT because he was passed over the head coaching job for the Rockets. This speaks of his character.

The guy should be thankful to the Rockets and Hakeem. He is where he is at because of them, otherwise he would be some average ex NBA player not many would remember..
