Harden isn’t gonna win...he’ll be splitting votes with PG for 2nd

I have no idea how people think it’s actually close right now...all the talk is about Giannis winning MVP or even Paul George

Harden’s 30 point streak had been turned into a negative by the media. They are not gonna reward Harden for “dribbling and shooting too much,” “being inefficient, and “not playing winning basketball” with an MVP.

a lot of them think a few players could’ve done what Harden did if they had the ultimate green light taking 30 shots and 15 freethrows every night...what he has done has been getting minimized left and right

at this point, if Harden won MVP I’d be shocked

Baron Davis made the most illogical argument I’ve ever heard....

If the entire system revolves around Harden.. does that not make him more valuable???

I think if we can get spiderman to wear his shoes in the next film with the suit, he wins MVP again.

She folded in the end. Shoulda went straight to the injury bug defense and is the only one who's capable of doing what's being demanded of Lebron, and is winning. The ONLY reason he has a case is cuz his team isn't suffering from injuries and the coach gave his star a system to work with.

7 out of the top-10 players in the whole league for NETRTG (> 15 min) are on the Milwaukee Bucks.
    https://stats.nba.com/players/advan...E*15&Season=2018-19&SeasonType=Regular Season

Milwaukee's coach, and the rest of the team that the front office put together do not get enough credit.

You can’t compare empty numbers. Giannis hasn’t had anything remotely close to the adversity Harden had to overcome. Injuries add to the strength of Harden’s case. Gettin doubled at half court and still dropping 40. Scoring through 4 people. Harden also had stretches of elite defense during the streak. This doesn’t even count the shoulder injured he played through during the streak.

If you say his “all around” game hasn’t been there then you simply haven’t been watching.

The game against Utah for example...43 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, six steals, and four blocks.

He’s had games where he carried us on both ends with key stops.

He’s top 5 in steals and before Paul came back he was top 5 in assists too.

But he’s just been shooting a lot... stop it.

This is Giannis’s year. He checks all the MVP boxes.

Personally, I want Harden to win the Finals MVP. Regular season MVP doesn’t seem so special any more.

Shaq being Shaq. Can never form a real legit point in discussions and just gets upset when someone doesn't agree. Follows it up saying or doing something childish. TNT will never do it but they need to get him off the air. Been saying it for years.

I don't even care if Harden doesn't win MVP. It's a great award and all but the Finals MVP/Championship trophy is what really matters. What's so disgusting is how everyone tries to make less of what Harden has done given the circumstances. Switch out Harden with any of these other guys and there's no way the Rockets go from 14th to 5th in the West given all their injuries to KEY contributors (Paul, Capela, Gordon). Period. End of discussion.

I think that’s just raw +/-. How good the team is when each player is on the floor. Of course, anyone who shares the floor with Giannis will benefit.

Of course his true shooting % is higher, he doesn't shoot the ball as much as Harden does.... and he certainly doesn't hit his shots off a dribble as much as Harden does, especially 3 pointers. Most of Giannis' points will either be set up for him or he'll drive to basket and dunk it or lay it up.

You really going to bring up rebounds? Giannis is 6ft 11! He's bound to get way more rebounds than Harden. And yet again, he's bound to get more blocks because he has a longer reach and he's much taller. He's actually behind Harden in steals. And he's actually averaging around 1.6 assists less than Harden a game.

many valid points here, but i must take issue with bringing up the assists stats. because if giannis was playing with ultra scrubs who continuously brick wide open 3's and fumble point blank layups, i doubt he averages even 5 dimes

Currently Rockets are #10 in the league. So unless these voters remember that they gave it to Westbrook 2 years for a historic run, then they are not going to vote for harden. Harden will end up 3rd after Giannis and PG.

I put the runner up and his team record next to the past MVP winners for the previous few years.

2017-18 James Harden, Houston Rockets (65-17, #1 in league) (Lebron, Cleveland #6 in league 50-32)

2016-17 Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunder (47-35, #10 in league) (Harden, Rockets #3 in league 55-27)

2015-16 Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors (73-9, #1 in league) (Kawhi, Spurs #2 in league 67-15)

2014-15 Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors (67-15, #1 in league) (Rockets #3 in league 55-27)

2013-14 Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder (59-23, #2 in league)

2012-13 LeBron James, Miami Heat (66-16, #1 in league)

2011-12 LeBron James, Miami Heat (46-20, #4 in league)

2010-11 Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls (62-20, #1 in league)

Historically the MVP goes to the best player on the top 1-2 team. That's the easiest way to avoid thinking.

When it's 7 players in top-10 of the league, it's very likely that it isn't just Giannis.

Khris, Brogdan, Lopez, ... Lots of underrated players there.

But again, this is in the East. They are in the same division as Pacers, Bulls, Cavs, Pistons.

Not really about the moving target that is MVP. I’m about that chip.

But who else can say this...James was MVP last year and he’s been twice as important to THIS year’s success. Who the hell wins MVP and then elevates their play the next season? James Harden just levitated for 2 months straight with 2 way guys and street free agents. Played better than he did last year.

All the ex nba players hating on Harden is pure jealousy.

Most if not all are either HOF guys or guys that we’re good made allstar games like baron davis.

There hating cause they couldn’t do what harden is doing. Their upset because harden isn’t the poster boy like Lebron or KD we’re guys are like ya he’s better than me.

All these ex stars really think their better than harden and could do what he’s doing.

    It’s hilarious.

Rockets played at a 55 win pace while harden was on his 32 game streak. That’s amazing.

Nobody else has been able to come close to the amount numbers harden put up and get he still won at a top 2 team level in the conference.

How do the injuries constantly get overlooked by these talking heads when they talk about Hardens isolations and shot attempts?
