Simply ridiculous individual accomplishments combined with single handedly dragging Rockets to 2nd best offense. In awe of Harden.
James Harden is on pace to catch HOFer Tracy McGrady in career points this year... all before he turns 30.
Nuggets and Blazers are not as good as their net RTG rankings. Would love to play either of them in 1st round.
Faried's FGP is above 70% in February. Best in the NBA in that month. http://www.espn.com/nba/player/_/id/6433
FG% is 26th as a team, Opponent FG% is 4th, only behind Cleveland, Phoenix and Washington. Not doing well on both ends.
FG% is an archaic stat, for the most part. FG% rolls 2's and 3's into one stat that tries to tell you how well you're shooting, which makes no sense because it gives equal weighting to both. If you look at TS% or eFG%, you'll see the Rockets are a top 4 or 5 team in both categories. Offensively, anyway. Defensively, we probably still aren't very good.
Yeah, with the shift towards more and more 3-pointers, it makes little sense for people to even pay attention to FG%, unless you're just trying to assess overall accuracy and not efficiency. For analysis purposes, better off looking at 2FG% and 3FG% separately, or if you want to combine it look at eFG% for field goal efficiency.
The 2018-2019 Houston Rockets have the best offense in franchise history (114.8 ORtg) and the worst defense in franchise history (112.7 DRtg). This goes all the way back to the first season in 1967 when the team was the San Diego Rockets. Our second best offense was last year, 114.7, so this year is better only by a hair. Our second worst defense in franchise history was only 109.0, so we are ahead of that by a mile.
impressive how Harden is able to produce an offense that good with a bunch of role players and scrubs it amazes me how people are always crying about the offense when the garbage defense is by far a bigger issue...take the OKC game for example...the Thunder dropped 69 points in the 2nd half, yet so many here are b*tching about the offense post-game
What surprises me is Dennis Schröder, thought he was decent or good off their bench, was the only guy scoring big for them off the bench. Against all criticism, WB is doing fine except shooting.
https://fansided.com/2019/02/17/nylon-calculus-charting-player-passing-lanes/ Very nice article analysing Harden's, Curry's Jokic's and Antetokounmpo's favourite passing lanes.
WOW look at the Rockets offensive style chart: The worst in ball movement and player movement? Here are the Warrior's for comparison: Also a very interesting breakdown. It has become more efficient to allow more 3PAs than shots at the rim.
Warriors move the ball and players with a goal of getting a great shot. Rockets give the ball to Harden (without moving the ball and players) because the "best shot" is already available via Harden's possession. Bottom line to get the best shot......Rockets cut out the middle man. That is hard to understand for fans that have "ball movement" ingrained in their heads. Point A to Point B.
