No one to blame but themselves, who elected these people to the offices in the state? Elections have consequences.
Louisiana isn’t NYC but many of the issues are the same. Louisana sits at major oil and gas logistics point and a major cargo logistics point.... ... were these companies not going to build there without the subsidies? Doubt so.
Louisiana is an example of how the GOP keeps a people down. Invest in education, infrastructure, and innovation to attract companies and new jobs and you will move the state to the left and weaken their hold on power. GOP depends on low-information voters to support them and keep them doing well. They will never want it to change. This is why red states are the poorest and most backwards in the nation
It's not a GOP vs DEM problem. It's a crony capitalism, gov for the powerful problem. It didn't matter who was in power, the problems continue. However, it definitely demonstrate, yet again, that giving more money back to the rich doesn't trickle down.
Louisiana has had some of the most unbelievably corrupt politicians on both sides of the aisle. Blaming it on one party is a joke. Since 1979 they have had 3 republican and 5 democrat governors. Until 2010 democrats controlled both houses for a long time. Even the limited dealings I have personally seen are mind boggling. They sell out their communities on a daily basis for a little piece of their own. They have massive oil and gas reserves, tourism, casinos, agriculture, fishing, etc.... and still can't make it work.
I would agree with that. Although I would add. Viet/Thai Food > Cajun Food > Mexican Food That is coming from someone that actually loves Mex food too.
I had a good friend in high school that taught a few semesters at LA Tech in Ruston and she told me a few stories that made me feel sorry for the students and the lack of education they get in High School. They were EXTREMELY behind.
The party of trickle down economic. What's amazing is we have 40 years of data that show the failure of that policy and yet it still is a mainstream idea for the GOP. Tax breaks for the top in of itself is going to do harm to society. We have seen it over and over. LA is an 80 years example of it. Kansas is an 8 years example of it. Since those States cannot run deficits, the impact is severe and direct. And yet again, the GOP push that agenda to the national level. What's keep us from falling into a ditch is that we get to borrow to pay for things society want, but that can go on for only so long before the pressure increase to the point where borrowing costs is too high to continue.
Big difference between many states. Corruption needs to be exposed in Louisiana. Need a healthy balance of taxation, but that was extreme.
