I have been saying this for a while. Everyone talks about the Lakers lockeroom and nothing about the Celtics. The players are asked to sacrifise their shots, their minutes and even their future paycheck, for a team that they know is about to discard them in July. It's not Stevens fault, it is Ainge's fault. Kyrie with his.. leadership doesn't help either.
Who's sacrificing future paychecks? Certainly not Morris? And on flip side, IT wouldn't sacrifice shots, and he didn't get paid -- like, non. And before you answer that, consider Ariza sacrificed to the tune of $16m. If there is anything that consistantly delivers money, it's being a starter or key bench player on a team that goes deep into the playoffs.
Rozier and Brown. They don't get many opportunities because most of the Celtics roster requires the ball to be effective.
Yep, can totally see Rozier wanting a starter role somewhere. I guess Brown is feeling the crunch for minutes caused by Hayward returning. I just had the impression Jaylen's talents are on display, and sometimes more shots can actually devalue you -- in a "better to remain silent, than to speak and remove all doubt" way. But you definitely follow the East more than me, so if you think there's lockerroom drama from players being treated like assets, imma listening. I do agree with anyone who says Boston is somehow very overrated wrt contender status for this season. Back to Rozier and Brown: wrt Brown scoring more: Otto Porter didn't really need more scoring to get paid, because his agent was able to say how it was a number's crunch behind to all-stars. I feel similar that Jaylen's agent should be able to make the case that the Celtic system spread scoring around, "but on your team, Jaylen can become your offensive focus, trust me." Of course, that doesn't mean Jalyen couldn't feel and play disgruntled right now. Of topic: How do you rate Rozier's defense?
Brown is a very interesting eccentric character. Maybe in the end, it will be better for him if he can use such an excuse and can hide the fact that he has horrible Bball iq however.. HE doesn't think so. As you said. He is the no.1 malcontent. (Besides Kyrie's "leadership"). Mcmullen wrote a very good article last month about Brown's dicontenment (sp?) in which Kyrie basically called him out and where Brown whined about how he can't take many shots as last season. Boston's hype machine has worked against themselves by hyping so much the young guys last season, it has given them a false sense of stardom. Rozier wants to be a starter and is looking for 16+ mil per which I don't believe he will be able to find in the open market but then again there is always Phoenix. Last year his defence was much better but this year he doesn't try as much anymore which is something he can't afford to do. Brown's defence has taken a nosedive as well btw.
