    Thought experiment 1
Grizzlies land Rubio, Derrick Favors and a protected future first-round pick
    Jazz land Mike Conley

    Thought experiment 2
Grizzlies land Rubio and Derrick Favors/Sefolosha/Future First
    Jazz land Conley/JaGreen
Jazz deal $106 million to Jazz for $53 Million.
    Who gets a better deal?
    1. Donovan Mitchell still has 3 year total 12 million contract remaining,
    2. Jazz has $35 million tax room this summer.
    3. Rubio and his expiring contract would be a starting point, but he's making less than half ($14.8 million) of Conley's salary ($30.5 million).
    4. Conley, 31, is averaging 20.0 points, 6.0 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game this season. He's bounced back to potential All-Star form.

Why would the Jazz want Conley or give up on Rubio? Rubio is the perfect complement to Mitchell.

I think Conley and Green on the Jazz would be actually great for Utah, not sure a 1st rounder is enough to get this done though, anyway yeah:

    Gobert
    Green
    Ingles
    Mitchell
    Conley

This would be a clear upgrade for them.

No he's not lol. He still isn't reliable shooting. Conley & Mitchell would be SCARY. That would make the Jazz a bigger threat to us than anybody but GS

Pacers might need Conley more than ever. Some people said he was a good fit before Oladipo got hurt.

Rubio's a ballhandler (to take pressure off Mitchell bringing the ball up) and because he's not a good shooter, Mitchell can be the primary scorer. Rubio is also a good defender, and relatively cheaper than Conley would ever be.

Ball handler? Um ok lol. Conley excels at everything Rubio can do. Rubio's cheaper because he's a significant downgrade from Conley. I thought this was common knowledge

Conley is making 30 million per year (and will be making 34 million, 2 years from now) while Rubio is making 15 million. So Conley is making twice what Rubio is making, yet I doubt you'd say he's twice the player Rubio is. I don't think getting him will suddenly make the Jazz world-beaters. I'm not going to claim that I know the financial situation of the Jazz, but getting Conley just seems more like a lateral move than a championship move.

Statistics seem to suggest Rubio is slightly better overall, though, even if Rubio is trailing Conley in PPG and 3P%.

And Rubio is going into UFA territory, next year, While Conley is in the middle of a 5 year contract. If the Jazz and Rubio aren't a good fit, they can simply part ways after this season. What happens if Conley and the Jazz aren't a good fit? Conley's contract isn't CP3 level, but it's still an albatross.

Conley is definitely twice the player. Rubio slightly better? This is when analytics backfire. No GM in the NBA would take Rubio over Conley. What exactly does Rubio do better? Lol. The reason Conley fits the Jazz is because it gives them a elite playmaker, defender & shotmaker next to Mitchell
