I started with Rocky III as a kid and LOVED it. It was amazing as an 11 year old. The first two Rocky's were overdramatic (although the first won a Best Movie Oscar) but as a kid, Rocky III and IV were pure gold. I haven't dislike any of them and will definitely see Creed II. Rocky seems to be a movie that should transcend age generations. For those who liked "The Dark Knight Rises?" As Kevin Smith said, It was a rehash of "Rocky III."
I guess when a bbs has been around since the beginning of the internet you were bound to get 7 old people with bad taste.
Not trying to convince you otherwise, but how often do you enjoy watching movies that were made before 1980 or so? If you can list ingmar Bergman's entire film catalog off the top of your head, the context is very different than if you couldn't figure out why everyone was laughing in the theater when Spiderman referenced The Empire Strikes Back during Captain America: Civil War.
It's also helpful to understand the meaning of the word "zeitgeist". Being someone who was born in Philadelphia in the 1970's, I believe it was a legal requirement to watch "Rocky". Still, it's one of the great movies of all time. Rocky 2 was good. Rocky 3 was ok. Rocky 4 was great. I think I saw the one with Tommy Morrison but I don't really remember it. Haven't seen the Creed movies yet.
Rocky's ahead!!! Go Olds! Hahah, I'm not actually that old, I just love a lot of classics from the 70s/80s. I was born in early 80s, so I guess I am old now, Oh well ... I'll still take the odds with Rocky. That first training montage really makes me feel like getting in better shape, but then I realize my days of boxing are over and Rocky 6 was more of a dream about the harsh realities of Father Time...
Very true, either understanding/knowing the history help a lot for period movies. Especially if you did some blue-collar work along the way (if looking at Rocky for example). If Rocky was originally made today it'd be... Weak ,there I said it, weak, he'd have had his own personal trainer(but paid for by his parents)/chef/ home gym !!!! Hahha, and in the end both guys would get trophies. Yay!! Everyone wins now!! Get it started Hollywood *this is also assuming no Creed movie that followed Rocky formula /remake
If you hate Rocky, you hate the american dream. He even has a dog named after Chicago's great ,Butkus, in Philly! It doesn't get more American than that. Cinderella Man was pretty damn good too.
The Matrix is 1000 times better than Rocky and it was written by 2 transsexuals. This is why old people suck.
