I take it back. They look really boring in person. I don’t like the shade of red either. Really needed some yellow or gold accenting for contrast.
Look while you can, CF. After this season, you won't see these jerseys for a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng time.
Yeah, I actually kind of liked the baby blue when I first saw it. Now, I am totally over it. I will forever associate that jersey with losing our star player, ineptitude, losing streaks, tanking, and not being watch entire games.
I like how the name is "earned edition" but the only thing this Rockets team has earned is our disgust.
These are pretty nice actually, reminds me of the Houston basketball team that's about the chase a final four appearance.
The entire current set looks incredibly bland and cheap. It seems that Tilman wanted to mimic the University of Houston, which itself is fairly bland, but unoffensive. Nothing about the current set screams "Houston", "space", "rockets", or original -- not that it must (the mid-90s switch was way too garish, but deliberately aimed at children). I personally find the Hawks new uniforms pretty dreadful; I really did like their last uniform set with the triangles since it was unique and original. It also balanced the colors red, yellow and black pretty well. Their new one is just high schoolish. "HAWKS" in block letters. Cool. I get that there's a trend for minimalism, but at some point the Rockets will need to re-do their current set yet again. The white ones are not "clean" they're blank. The shorts have that pointless curve at the bottom. Just awful. And what's with the uneven sleeve piping compared to the collars? No interest in purchasing a Rockets uniform. I'm not one so hung up on the silly tripe of "ketchup and mustard" -- for one the original color was not bright yellow; it was "desert gold", similar to Kodak's color. I'd rather see the team go with a slightly darker red and embrace the "desert gold" or even real gold (NOT yellow). Cleveland's colors from LeBron's first go around would look good on the Rockets (though again more red than "wine"). I still think the best looking Rockets jersey from the last 25 years (color wise) was the Lunar New Year look from 2019. If they did something like the above with "HOUSTON" on one and "ROCKETS" on the other with the slant -- and a tiny Rocket somewhere, fine -- it would be the best look and the team wouldn't have to keep messing with it every 5-10 years.
That solid red font on top of black is just ghastly, guess Nike couldn't be bothered to give us anything remotely creative like most other teams because they basically just inverted the colors of our red jersey.
