Tucker has passed several tests. All he needs to go is prove that he can hit the baseball away from defenders at the MLB level. Tucker is much more valuable at this point.

Interesting. Playoff teams not on that list: Astros, Cubs, Braves, Brewers, Indians

Others could of course come up (Mets??) but given you can effectively scratch off the Indians, that’s a pretty short list of real partners for Grenke.

Mostly cold weather & west coast teams. Maybe its more geographical than anything else.

I did read it. My point is that they’re not watching the division opponents as much as they are the AL big players. They want home field and that fight isn’t against anyone currently in the AL West. They’re not going to sit back and let the Sox and Yanks have all the fun and do nothing.

The M’s also has to take on Bruce’s deal (2/26) and other bad contracts. All told the Mariners took on 45 million in contracts and gave 20 million cash. So over half of Cano’s contract was paid and they gave up 4 years of Diaz.

No, it isn’t the same as giving up Tucker.

It is a combo of teams that could trade for him and teams that he would try to extort more money from if he were asked to wave his no trade clause. It is very much strategic.

Tucker gets you in any conversation. He's as good a piece hitting wise as it gets

Good.. We play the Mariners 19 times next year. We should win at least 15 of those games.

Gordon, Seager, and Leake will also have to go. Don’t know how it makes sense for them to take back Santana just to get rid of Segura, but whatever. They’ve traded 1 bad contract (Cano) and taken back 3 (Bruce, Santana, and Swarzak, but of course those 3 are smaller deals). Mariners going to be historically bad this season.

Seager can still bounce back and be a 2ish WAR player, but unloading that contract won’t be easy. Wonder if SEA adds Haniger to attract a buyer...

Considering this is what the guy is doing when he's not tweeting:

I'd probably not take his insider info too seriously.

At my age, whenever I have a strong feeling, I head to the bathroom as soon as possible.
