Based on what I can find (using last year's stats), Melo was 177th out of 321 in EFG in post-ups: https://stats.nba.com/players/playt...ir=1&Season=2017-18&SeasonType=Regular Season He was also 177th in the league the year before out of 313 players in EFG in post-ups. (as a NYK), https://stats.nba.com/players/playt...ir=1&Season=2016-17&SeasonType=Regular Season In both cases above his EFG is under 45%...far from great. This season he's better, but the sample size is nearly zero with limited minutes and only 10 games played. In short, he's average (not elite) in EFG at post-ups. Feel free to flame with other stats, but just wanted to add some data to this discussion...
Why is this thread still open? Tons of threads about Melo and his looming departure, do we really allow this ridiculous crave for attention by hollic? Come on mods...
Typical b_allholic. At the billion times he complains about "can we just talk basketball", someone(@Haymitch) is genuinely trying to have a reasonable discussion on basketball and he just doesn't want to engage but rather say you're wrong without proving any evidence. We already know the shtick with b_allholic responses. Someone provides evidence/reasoning = look up the data yourself/gotta watch the games Someone does the eye test = look up the data yourself/can't just base off eye tests Someone derails thread = cAn wE tALk BasKETbaLL!
I don’t understand why, MDA who’s won coach of the year and led this team to its franchise best winning record with an historically good offense doesn’t come to this message Board and follow Holick’s advice. Clearly Hollick is more in tune with this team and it’s needs then MDA or Morey. I’m surprised Holick isn’t in Fertittas speed dial for advice.
Melo and the Rockets need to work this out. This is the only team he could possibly win a championship with and be on the floor when the final horn sounds. He needs to quit being stupid and stay. His minutes will come as we evolve more into our small-ball lineup.
The term "cancer" gets thrown around too loosely. If you want to say he is not a good "on court fit," then so be it. But when people use the term "cancer" they usually mean locker room stuff. We have seen NOTHING reported that he has been a locker room malcontent.
He's a total mismatch for opponents playing small-ball five. He needs to embrace that role. And his minutes, scoring, scoring efficiency, usage, and importance to winning will balloon. I'm openly rooting for this to happen. Because I'm convinced he'd be a key cog, maybe the single greatest key, to beating the Warriors, from the 5-spot. See it DaDa. Open your basketball mind. We need Melo to play the 5. Harden Paul Winslow Melo PJ with a couple key bench pieces that ain't here...namely a backup point guard and Luc Ellington or Miles or Korver Qi/Hartenstein/buyout center that can shoot the 3 (Vucevic or some knucklehead like Whiteside/JJ)
Haven't been having a great day today. I really needed the "Melo is the single biggest key to beat the Warriors" laugh you provided. Thank you, Holic. I needed that.
You left out the word maybe. But go ahead and laugh son. Melo needs to stay. He needs to embrace the 5-spot and shine.
Melo can't be a small ball 5 because he provides 0 rim protection. I think he might literally be the worst in the league in providing weak side help rim protection. If Melo is your 5 then it is a layup line at the rim.
lmao at using Melo as a small ball 5...we would get massacred on the boards, and there would be absolutely zero resistance at the rim
can always count on the same poster for comic relief. sometimes its a refresher for all the other stuff going on the board has anyone found out the secret to get access to these microsoft xml spreadsheets. please share if so
